Nope, don’t like your take
We are losing in recruiting because we crapped the bed at the beginning of the year. It’s quite apparent this is a different team now, and those guys had a hand in it
But we are still losing guys like hardy despite this being a “different team”

What a terrible take!!! Lupoi can't be a DC but he can definitely coach position groups. Guaranteed 90% of the RF would gladly take Lupoi as a position coach and his recruiting.
His defensive line in Cleveland is third worst in the NFL against the run. Rocker is making our dline competent with a bunch of scrubs. We will get recruits once we start winning

well, again, if you believe what many have said, this kid and baron have been in the boat privately for months. and at least were confirming to coaches, players and prospects/commits a week and a half ago that they were still in.

so again, i think this has way more to do with shady ish going on at Auburn, than anything we supposedly didn't do here.
We can get into the semantics of “shady” if you’d like but my general feeling on that is all programs are breaking the rules. You either do enough to sign elite talent or you don’t.

Also I think each fanbase conveniently decides the other schools are dirty when they are being out-recruited. Georgia and Alabama fans were letting us have it when we signed Too Too and JJP. So were we “shady” then but we’re not “shady” now? Or did we just recruit those specific prospects more effectively than they did?

It’s also top 10 in sacks. Their LBs are atrocious and none of their CBs can tackle.
Having a generational pass rusher makes things easy. We will see if we get him but I’m skeptical that he would be an upgrade to rocker as far as coaching goes

Has dick to do with how he performs as a college position coach and recruiting guy.

I don’t necessarily think he’s a bad coach but we’re not exactly killing it in RB recruiting and catching balls and pass pro has been a weakness from our RBs tbh.

First year back at RB, and Gray was a huge get. Hodge is a good get as well (although missing most the season hurt his rating).

I've seen Jordan & Ty both play better under YAC than they did under Weinke.

Sherrar, Johnson, and Weinke will be replaced next year if i had to guess.
Amen.

Seemed like I was all alone on that island last week. Glad to see there IS intelligent life elsewhere on this board full of plebes.

You should ALWAYS be looking to upgrade your Organization with the absolute BEST people you can find.

i'm not naive here..........

but you're telling me even in the world of the unwritten rules, all this was on the up and up? or that we simply didn't care, and let him walk at the last minute w/zero effort to counter?

or that allt he sudden their coaches did in one weekend what we didn't/couldn't/didn't try in the last year and a half?

nah.

We dont want to hire him for anything other than a position coach, which is a spot that Tosh is highly regarded. You acting like we want him as chancellor.

Not at all. Just looking at how Saban realized having a bunch of recruiters instead of good coaches cost him a title. He hired like 5 new people to try to improve development

IDT UT has any "silents" right now-- at least not in the way that some define the term. We have strong leans, leans, guys we want who are keeping their options open and guys we may want that would commit today if they get the go-ahead. But any rock-solid locks that we definitely want and can't be enticed elsewhere-- I wouldn't count on it.

My guess is Auburn was always much closer to Tennessee in his mind than he let on and the visit + whatever “offer” they made put them over the top for him. Also I don’t believe you have to say Tennessee did a “bad” job to say Auburn did a good job.

I do believe we were in the lead forever and that he was likely silently committed - at least to other recruits. But things can change quickly.

Got rid of him as their DC. This is a terrible take.

We want him as a Recruiter & Position Coach.
Recruiting won’t improve until we start winning. Why get rid of a guy that is clearly a good coach?

The secret sauce to clemson’s Success (other than paying people) is coaching staff continuity. I don’t think more than one or two coaches have left there in 4 years

Do we think Lupoi would do as well here as he did in Alabama? I don't think we are currently at a place to get all the talent Bama was able to from the West Coast.
