I’m curious to what red flags ?

I liked him a lot and obviously was wrong

16-20 at Western Kentucky, left after 3rd season.
24-25 at USF, left after 4th season
7-5 at Oregon and bounced after 1 season.

All 3 of those jobs he left on his own and missed the bowl game for the "greener pastures"

He's not had any sustained success anywhere. 56-62 career record, and 0-1 in bowl games (since he's missed the last 3 his teams made). That's a lot of job hoping...one would argue Western Kentucky to USF was lateral and Oregon to FSU was as well.

WKU hired Petrino after Taggart and had better success
Oregon hired a first time HC and he's been more successful

Willie is the "Good Luck Chuck" of college football basically. So I'm sure FSU is about to hit the jackpot!

FSU was a dump when WT got there.

Now its a dump when less $.

Not THAT kind of a "told you so" because you didn't disagree but they did go back to Chandler in different games, had mentioned to you that might be the plan.

I'm now convinced on the theory of it being centered around the opposing defense and our run game plan.
And I honestly think it's smart on their part.

Would be interesting to see but not sure the public will really know. Often, the whole "feelers" thing is put out for this very reason. Avoiding a public shun.

Willie may very well be a crap coach but this last timeline was ridiculous, regardless of the hire.
The other narrative often pushed here "because ___ is actually serious about FB" would even have the likes of Leach kicked in his pirate arse.

Add to that Herbie's very public comments, and you've got a recipe for keeping coaches away or upping their buy-in.

Like you and many others have said, it would make sense that they already had their guy before firing Taggart, but do they? And how solid is that guy? As we've seen, no one's done until all the t's are crossed.

I think basically everyone agrees Pruitt hasn't done enough yet. Might get a courtesy interview, idk but don't think this conversation is anything but entertaining Catbone's "what if" scenario.
Oh it was catbone that started this? Go figure, I should have known and just kept quiet.

Being serious about football doesn't always mean you are making wise decisions.

There's something to it for sure.

Chandler has had 2 solid games is a row after Jordan had a good one against Bama.

Need both to continue to be productive.

Lol you know Oregon fans are laughing as hard as we were when Kiffin got fired at USC!

Plus, UT is very intent on stability. Last week, Randy Boyd indicated he would be open to continuing to serve as UT President after his interim term. That likely extends Fulmer, and John Compton is very supportive of both. His term runs through 2024, and the board is strong under his leadership. Our BB coaches are very secure, happy to be at UT and committed to building championship teams. Given the level of commitment and support, Pruitt seems likely to stick and put a foundation under football. For the first time in more than a decade, UT has committed leadership and seems on firm footing. This is a good environment for coaches and a good place to build elite programs.
