Maybe I'm biased but I wouldn't say FSU is a better job than Tennessee. Our facilities are better, just about any head coach with a pulse can recruit top players here, and we're probably more committed at the top to winning again. Pruitt has been given everything he's asked for.

The edge FSU has is recruiting your backyard and not having to play Bama.

Not a chance. I wish they would've played him more early and often.

But they didn't.

The coaches continue to play JG instead of Shrout and Maurer and we've continued to win games due to our suffocating defense and spectacular STs efforts.

If that's going to continue to be the case going forward, I think we can beat UK, VU, and Mizz with JG, Shrout, and JJ. Maurer is the best of all bar none. But he hasn't been able to withstand the contact due to a couple of fluky injuries.

In games that Maurer has played most of (ONLY UGA) - we lost. Would've lost with Shrout or JG.
Mississippi State game, we were up 7-3 when Maurer scorpioned then threw the pick. Enter the concussion protocol.
Alabama game, we were behind 14-7 when Maurer hit his head on Darnell's knee. Enter the concussion protocol again.

Maurer has only thrown 2 TDs - both at UGA. Other than that, he hasn't thrown for more than 62 yards in a game. I think he had 1 rushing TD against Bama & UTC.

He's the best looking QB that we've seen so far, followed closely by Shrout. One could argue that Shrout has looked better since he hasn't thrown 5 INTs compared to 2 TDs. But Maurer has also played a lot more, thrown for a lot more yards, and his bad throws have all been picked whereas Shrout's somehow had all of his throws not be picked. There's certainly been a few opportunities.



All I know is it would've been good to get Maurer a redshirt season.

JG sucked to start the year, and I wish the coaches would've played BM & JTS a lot earlier at QB with some JJ sprinkled in as well.

They didn't do that until the gauntlet of Florida, Georgia, Alabama, and then the MSU and USCe games, which they managed well and won with both JG and others.


I think Shrout could've been the main one to take the snaps from JG and we still would've won the game vs MS state. That would've given Maurer more time to build some muscles.

TL;DR: I wish JG didn't play like crap at the beginning or middle or towards the end of the year. I wish Shrout would've played more early. Wish Maurer would've gotten a redshirt season, because he hasn't ultimately resulted in any difference in the W column. The coaches have managed it strangely, and hindsight is 20/20. Maurer gave us the best chance to win so he played. Wish Shrout had done the same in practice so it could've been him instead with BM maybe using his 4 games of eligibility against UK, VU, Mizz, and against bowl game opponent.

True in basketball, but not football...I live here...They hate the UT football team as bad or worse than they hate UL basketball.

The sacks, yes....that is surprising. I figured the back end of the defense would be a strength and carry the team to some victories.

What percentage of their fanbase would you say favors football over basketball? I'm asking because I don't know, not being smart.

Very small...but since we are talking about football, those fans are the ones we are talking about. This state is weird like that. If Stoops sticks around, and they are not stupid and do whatever they have to to keep him, the football program segment of fans are growing pretty quickly.

I doubt it but i didn’t think USC would look at Kiffin either. They aren’t going to pony up 10 mil a year or anything crazy so if they get turned down a few times it’s probably possible. It’s a better job than UT.

I think there is legit concern about Maurer's durability and how that impacts his health and development. He would have benefited from a RS year to get physically stronger. JG is tough. Ideally, he should have had a week off, as well. The reluctance (borderline refusal) to play Shrout unless absolutely forced to is a headscratcher, but that's what it's going to be.

It makes you wonder whether it is personal with Shrout. I know that should not be a possibilty..but humans..

They're both of about the same caliber IMO. I do know for a fact that there are a lot of FSU people who are very high on Pruitt. By all accounts it seems like he's happy here though. He's been given everything he's asked for.

Campbell has one of the hardest contracts to get out of similar to Matt Ruhle. Both seem to be dead set on NFL.
