Yeah, fun stuff like that. I just received a miter saw as a gift and I'm wanting to try to learn to build some basic projects like patio furniture and tables and things like that for fun.

you'll need a lot more than mitre saw for tables & furniture. either make friends with owner of sawmill or buy a planer.

that skillville place has all that, and they teach you hands on how to do it.

The tables I've been looking at doing are super simple and only require a miter saw. But yes, I plan to buy a table saw in the future for more difficult projects.

I recommend starting with hand tools. Forces you to go slower, really think through what you are doing. Learn the arts/tricks that way first, then speed them up with power. Definitely recommend Japanese style saws for that. Can get good ones for like $30 on Amazon. But you can actually do a lot with the mitre/hand saw combination.

The woodworking for mortals guy is good, but you don’t have to pay for his class. Go through all his old YouTube’s first. And if you want to get to real craftsman type stuff from good teachers lookup Matt estlea, Paul sellers and third coast craftsman on there as well.

I will. I'm just wanting to learn the basics. How to make plans, cutting angles, etc.

Wanting to take my son to a Preds game.

Haven’t been in 10 years myself. Remember taking my wife, sat in upper deck and considerable amount of cursing and belligerent drunks.

Does anyone know if there’s like a fam-friendly zone lol?

It's not that hard until you get to the more advanced stuff. You're doing the right thing looking up helpful sites (we didn't used to have those, just try, fail and tape your finger back on).

There is probably also sites that will help you with safety jigs to keep your fingers further from the blade. Do the safety glasses, 200mph splinter hurts like a sob.
And level the saw with the surrounding support tables/cabinets, much bigger time saver than anything.

And stay safe, ya moran.

Hey guys, if I could ask for those who do to say some prayers for my wife, her grandfather, and her family? Her grandfather was admitted to the hospital today and the doctor wants to perform open heart surgery. The reason is because he has 70% blockage in 3 areas of his heart and 90% blockage in the 4th. He is not consenting currently most likely due to him having some depression recently. He has been through a lot medically lately including prostate cancer (which is actually going really well right now), just had a shoulder replacement, and has had both knee replacements a few years ago.

So if you can, please say some prayers for peace and God to move in this situation. He is saved. Thanks guys and gals.
