The Impeachment Thread

With all the recent contortions Republicans have made to defend Trump, I'm starting to believe the P in GOP stands for pretzel.
How different is it than the contortions you and others make to defend the Dems? While I think there's reason for an impeachment inquiry, and very possibly reason for impeachment itself, I can't say I support some of the tactics the left has used to reach this point. Both sides have been playing fast and loose with the rules, but it seems only one side will be held accountable. Trump may very well be deserved of removal from office, but there are some Congress people deserved of removal as well.

Politics shouldn't be about a power struggle, but about what is good and right for our country. Ultimately, Trump's removal may be best, but let's not pretend it was done for the right reasons. The Dems have been trying to undermine the election from the day Trump was elected. They didn't even wait for him to actually screw up. So I don't think it entirely incorrect to call this a coup.

Honestly, I think the actions of the Dems in their zeal to undo the election will have more ramifications on the future of our country than Trump's actual Presidency. The war between the parties has reached new lows, and ultimately, we the people will suffer for it.

His legal opinion -- i.e., whether anything was illegal -- is of no relevance. What matters would be his factual knowledge.
And yet you guys are playing the "original whistleblowers don't matter anymore because a CIA analyst that was listening in testified that he was uncomfortable about the call" card.

lol

Catherine Herridge reported today that Taylor testified that Vindman was concerned about how the call would "affect bi-partisan support for Ukraine". Nothing about anything illegal. Sounds like a policy difference with the man born in Ukraine.

So, they're actually hanging on to:

"original whistleblowers don't matter anymore because we have the opening statements of a CIA analyst, without context or further testimony, that we were told was uncomfortable about the call"...

while simultaneously posting that the legal opinion is "like, just your opinion, man" and isn't important.

Neither Luther or I made Lindsey Graham, Mick Mulvaney, Kevin McCarthy, our numerous others speak about Trump the way did before he became president. It isn’t our fault such a large number refused to endorse him prior to the election. News flash, they don’t think any more highly of him now. They’re just afraid of his cult.

LOL

They're afraid of his cult just as Nancy is afraid of the "squad's" cult.

Why? You yourself say he is terrible, stupid, unstable and bad for the country so it seems to me that he would be easier to defeat in the general than a level headed establishment guy that doesn't scare people.
I would gladly take a loss to a level headed, established (non horrendously despicable) guy to rid the world of Trump.
It's not s much about the R or D; it's all about Trump being horrendously despicable.

And my point was in opposition to this. The point that that crazy accusation has been so overused that the average American sees the person who makes it as a bit unhinged and deserving ridicule.

People don't talk about it that much, but Russia is very top of the brain. The Ukraine scandal is definitely not unrelated to Russian influence suspicions.

All career politicians are horrendously despicable.

The last time the whole "Russian Asset" card was resurrected was the has-been Hillary cooking up a Russian asset accusation against the least crazy Dem Prez hopeful, and that least-crazy Dem Prez hopeful calling Hillary a washed-up, deranged lunatic for playing the card.

LOL

They're afraid of his cult just as Nancy is afraid of the "squad's" cult.
The “squad” makes up 4 representatives in overwhelmingly blue districts. Nancy has no problem ignoring the squad, and she has shown it. See her dismissal of the green new deal. AOC has even whined about her on Twitter, and it hasn’t seems to affect her much.

Meanwhile, Trump whines about being treated unfairly and the GOP looks like they’re being taken hostage.

I knew there was a reason that she was darling of the right. Russian asset, huh?
