The players provide a service to the university which makes the university money and the players are therefore compensated by it. That’s an employee/employer relationship.

You just believe what the NCAA tells you. It’s not being a snowflake it’s called using logic. Not being ignorant because a corporation (which the NCAA is) told me something.

Sure, whatever you say is definitely true in your world. But be careful, b/c if you're ever actually made supreme ruler of the world, you can accidentally put the players in the position of having to pay income taxes on their tuition scholarships, since they'll be income earned as employees.

I recreated a Twitter account to respond to him to tell him this:

Followed U B4 deleting my old account. Always liked you and still do! That said, cry over money like you did over the good feels you got when you received a standing ovation during senior night and I will believe you. I will always seek your heart big man. It’s bigger than BBall.

Do the players provide a service to the university in which the university profits of that and the players get benefits and compensation for that service? Yes or no.

Honestly, why. Why tweet that at him? Come on.....

Oh we got a badass over here

That was exactly his point. He wasn’t taking a shot at UT he was talking about the NCAA.

I didn’t say he was. Someone told him what he got from Tennessee was bigger than money. He said he didn’t feel that way. That was his point. Is that taking a shot? Nah... but it is saying money is more important than what he got at UT. He’s still a kid now getting paid for the first time. All good, but like I said. When he cries over money like he did over the standing ovation he got during senior night, I will believe him.

Oh....now I get it; you clearly don't know what the hell you're talking about because that was NOT his point.

JFC.

You tweet that garbage at him then accuse ME of "talking smack"? Good one Mr. Internet Tough Guy.

Dude I have proved my tough guy outside and inside of the ring my entire life and both were off the net. Grab your ball and go home nerd.

Maybe he did. He definitely could have cried when he signed his NBA contract. Do you know if he did or not?

I considered that. You could be right. Regardless... I don’t know that he did... I do know that he wept deeply and uncontrollably in front of thousands of fans during that ovation.

I am also an alumnus, don't really understand how that gives me or you a more valid argument than anyone else. I never said you can't protest it. I just called the bluff that people will stop watching it because of this rule. Empty threat, in my opinion.

As you mentioned, the game isn't pure to begin with, all this will do is bring a lot of the under the table deals above the table. You are grossly exaggerating the effect this would have, whether or not Admiral got an ad deal with a local company or made some money for autographs would not be a game changer. Most lesser known / 3* players won't be affected by this at all, the big name players will be, but that is already the case.

I would agree that no one is forced to sign a scholarship, but the NBA basically forces it since you can't be drafted right out of high school. The aren't many realistic options available outside of collegiate sports.

Who is or isn't an employee is decided by the law, not by your opinions. Yes, the athletes could be reclassified as "employees", but you are missing a couple of things:

1) They would have other repercussions that are NOT to their advantage and they do NOT want, unintended consequences...
2) Being reclassified as employees is NOT necessary in order to get compensation for their name and likeness, or to earn money in a job while in college. Those are NEGOTIATED TERMS of the NCAA's student-athlete agreements, so it doesn't matter if they are employees or not.

Not sure why you're so adamant to have them declared employees legally when it wold not be in their best interest and it's not necessary.

You’re absolutely right! I agree that 18 year olds should be allowed to play professional sports and think it’s wrong what the NFL and NBA do.
Start your own league and set the age limit at whatever you want.
I’ll hang up and listen.

You literally just tweeted at a 22-year old recent UT grad telling him his feelings on senior night were essentially a good enough comepnsation for all his hard work. You have no room to throw stones.

Hahaha I am not throwing stone at anyone. I tweeted at someone. That is what Twitter is for. I am reminding him of those good feels.

I will do that as soon as you start a true collegiate system where nobody makes money off anything so we can have true amateurism.
