Listening to JW, you never felt like you missed much. In some ways it was better. But Kesling isn't half the announcer John Ward was. I remember Mr. Ward came to band practice once and talked with us. Seemed like a genuinely nice guy.

He and I were supposed to go there together and play in POTS in 1989. I played trumpet. I wasn't offered a scholly. Alabama Million Dollar band, did. So did MTSU. I chose Middle.
