Im not going to argue anymore, but my overall point is we will have 2-3 Edge players on the entire roster next year and one of which has never done a thing. This D is dependent on good Edge play to generate pressure and set the edges in the run game.

We needed Ojulari, who is very skilled in pass rush. Maybe Baron will slim down a bit and play JACK, but he looks like hes gonna be a 275 lb 5 Tech in the future.
Lot of guys are skilled in high school. Was excited about the potential of Ojulari but he wasn’t an immediate contributor imo. I remain uncertain on Baron’s future spot, but he very well could be a 250’ish edge. I see this EVERY season “this guy is a MUST GET! We can’t lose him!” Then we do...and then what. We recruit and sign someone else in that spot and field a team the next season. 😴 We didn’t have a pass rush early this season WITH Taylor on the roster, so your pass rush point is perfectly valid...so what happened between the non-pressure and losing with bad defensive performance and NOW? Good coaching gets good performance because our talent is never as good or bad as we think. Deondre Johnson was a beast by the end of the game...got more of him on the roster and on the way by signing day.

4.79 40, 30 vertical 252 lbs 6'5"
4.78 40, 37 vertical 222 lbs 6'2.5"

I mean from pure opening measurables, I'd rather take the bigger body...Why on earth would you want a 6'5" 252 lb monster like that to slim down to be an edge rusher? Keep in mind Taylor is 6'4" 255

I actually thought Ojulari is a tad undersized to be an edge rusher in the SEC...expect he'll need to add a good 15 pounds to be productive in college, especially considering at that size he's not got elite speed like Grimes

Which he easily could have done. Not everybody is going to be ready day one on campus. I think Bennett and Johnson can handle the duties next year but we need to continue to add talent for depth.

Gotta remember those late JUCOs and grad transfers...as well as talented recruits bumped off loaded classes. We also have elite talent evaluators keeping their nose to the grindstone.

Ok...that's my point though? Ojulari bailed and then said "it's been LSU since summer" well eff him then. He committed to us in August, but has known it was LSU since his Official there in June?

Baron is right here in Knoxville playing with one of our best in-class recruiters too in Cooper. He's bigger with equal speed....it's not rocket surgery here, Ojulari bailed we didn't turn him away. So again focus on the players we can/do get, not the ones we don't.

No Ojulari, fine we need to get Baron and/or Grimes.

Land Hardy and Omari and the pass rush will take care of itself. Because having 3 down lineman that can push pressure is just as important in our scheme as OLBs with edge speed.

Agree on a lot of this. And to clarify, I'm not crying over Ojulari specifically, just making a point the position is thin and needs attention in grand scheme.

Did it come off to anyone else like Jahmir was letting out a lot of built up aggression from not playing recently? Boy was playing angry which led to a few dumb penalties early. Jennings had to calm him down some. He needs to play imo but also needs to smart with that aggression and not full on grab a dudes face ask with both hands like he is in a street fight 😂

He’s always played with that “flair” imo

Hopefully everyone is back and he can go back to putting his energy into twitter

What happened to the people who were posting a hundred times a day about how there was 0 improvement in the team?

They don’t have to post it anymore because there’s improvement now.

It’s like the old saying when you’ve lost something. “It’s always the last place you look.” Well duh. You don’t keep looking after you’ve found it.

Don’t necessarily disagree with you on that. Just emphasizing that the coaches are most likely aware.

Siap, I didn't see it. Vollygirl posted this with Quez's reaction to the Bituli blocked punt/TD.
Haha, love it.

Love seeing these guys having success/fun, especially these seniors. They've been through so much. I hope we win out and these guys go out knowing they helped turn this thing around and be sad that their time here is over.

Hyperextended knee by appearance. If it was worse, Pruitt usually hints at it after the game.

Those suck. Got one in High School a long time ago playing baseball.

Was running through 1st and the 1st Baseman decided to kick his foot back on top of the bag as I was running through. Did some type of roll flip thing, landed on my feet while hyperextending my knee at the same time. Tore the ol PCL. Then kept re-popping it during passing league in Spring and Summer football workouts. All in all took about 6months to heal and never healed back properly. Still hurts to this day lol.

Stupid hyperextensions......

No. We absolutely need to sign elite edge rushers. We need it all.

Look, it’s okay. We’ll get someone but the point is we definitely need it.

DT came in around 225 or less and was lanky so while having a bigger overall frame than Ojulari, they are similar in some comparisons. 19 has spent 5 years in college S&C program to build his body. Just see Baron bulking up when lifting in college S&C full time but time will tell. I'm very happy to load up with these versatile 5 Tech type players as it will really allow our DL to be multiple and have proper depth to compete all season.

I would also add it is tough to compare 40 times at these camps to game speed and burst when rushing the passer.

Pruitt is now doing what we said he (and this roster) had the capacity to do but somehow we’re still the idiots.

He did win reasonably well, 34-10 as a starter. Undrafted and cut as a FA immediately. The winning might have been helped by being on teams with a lot of talent. Just a thought.
It did help, no doubt. But he was incredible as a leader and he was tough. His road record is fantastic. He is not the most talented QB we have had, but he is still one of my favorites because he also clearly has that dawg in him that motivated his team and also his teammates and elevated their performance.

Me too! Of course I want anyone that chose UT to have a great experience but those that have gone thru it all and stayed, bought in and worked, it's just different.

After everything that happened with Jennings, for him to say that he wouldn't miss for anything (or something close), well... just love it.
