You have to start Shrout or Jennings for the first series regardless. There's nothing about JG that makes me think he could handle the response of the fans if he trots out there for the first series. I think Shrout is the play with a short leash and maybe he and the offense can execute a well-scripted first drive.

Prayers please. In the hospital with chest pain and a stress test in the morning. Phone is dying so won't be able to respond. Wouldn't matter anyway since they just gave me Lyrica, Benadryl and Zrytec.TIA!

So sorry to hear this and hope you're already home and feeling better. Let us know you're OK!

The boos will be louder if he trots out there after a few series

You really think so? I mean, if Shrout throws 3 bad interceptions, then maybe. But, JG's last play is fresh on everyone's minds. I can't imagine him going out before Shrout would not be worse than him going in after Shrout if Shrout is struggling.

The boos will be loudest if they announce him as the starter on the big board before the game when everyone is paying attention. Not everyone will see him at the same time if he's trotting out with his teammates.

By contrast, Shrout will get plenty of cheers if announced on the big board.

To amplify my remarks above. He doesn't have the luxury of venting his emotions in public speeches without repercussion. He doesn't have the luxury of assuming that (heaven forfend) shrout and (for the wildcat remedy) the dog both are not lost on the first play Saturday. He doesn't have the luxury of pretending without bad consequence that what he says might not become a negative recruiting ploy. He does not have the luxury of failing to considering what result might come from displaying to his other players the behavior of condemning one of their fellows in a media setting, not to say on the field or in private. He has the tactical objective of denying Muschamp any more information than the latter has or can obtain, if not somehow to mislead him. He's not a fan. He's a coach.

For real. 1) He realizes that moms and dads of recruits are watching how he handles this JG situation, and not throwing him under the bus for something as godawful as that fumble TD means that he won't their their kid under the bus for messing up either, and 2) There may be some truth to the rumors that after venting about his team's attitude last year that the upper classmen on the team just laid down and quit the last couple of games, and he learned his lesson.

Maybe so

The op suggested the boos had something to do with the decision which isn’t reasonable. That can’t figure in
