To be eligible for a medical hardship waiver, a student-athlete has to meet the following criteria:

• The student-athlete must suffer the injury during one of their four seasons of college competition or during the senior year of high school.
• The injury must be incapacitating. That means it must be a season-ending injury.
• The injury must occur prior to the start of the second half of the season.
• The student-athlete must not have competed in more than 30% of the season or three contests, whichever is greater.

There may a small glimmer of hope that they could argue that since he was knocked out of 3 games that he deserves some bending of the 4 game but playing past the half way point makes that improbable. I don’t think there has ever been precedent for that bending of the rule anyway

I may be wrong, but historically catholic hasn’t allowed early graduation/enrollment. I’d be surprised if Mays is an EE, but it may have changed.

As long as the SA meets the requirements, KCHS allows it. Not only was Cade Mays an EE at UGA, he got there in December and participated in bowl practices. Cooper's on the same track.

Made completely meaningless in football by the new redshirt rule. They chose 4 games for a reason. No one uses medical redshirts for football any longer.

To amplify my remarks above. He doesn't have the luxury of venting his emotions in public speeches without repercussion. He doesn't have the luxury of assuming that (heaven forfend) shrout and (for the wildcat remedy) the dog both are not lost on the first play Saturday. He doesn't have the luxury of pretending without bad consequence that what he says might not become a negative recruiting ploy. He does not have the luxury of failing to consider what result might come from displaying to his other players the behavior of condemning one of their fellows in a media setting, not to say on the field or in private. He has the tactical objective of denying Muschamp any more information than the latter has or can obtain, if not somehow to mislead him. He's not a fan. He's a coach.

Good. I think Wanya and Darnell have helped show just how much that extra spring can help a young OL that may play early. Darnell is still kicking tail! But Wanya has played with fewer mistakes thus far.
