Recruiting Forum Football Talk II

I tend to agree, from a pure arm talent/pocket passer standpoint I think he's the best on the team. I've not seen enough in game action though to call him anything yet...
We can run the ball effectively with him behind center if we let him fire 5-6 deep balls down the sidelines throughout the game.

Just have to hit 2-3 of em to keep the Defense honest.

That’s how we beat Auburn last year.

And I am not saying sit back in the pocket, go thru progressions, and find the open man.
I’m talking 5 step drop, read the Safety, and Bam - launch it.

Just 13 days from BasketVOLs tip-off too...

We've got some forward momentum in recruiting and the on the field product, hopefully we just show out at home against USC in a packed house. I truly believe despite his negatives JG starting isn't an automatic loss. He plays like he did against MSU and we'll be fine. Surely the staff has simplified the playbook to prevent anymore rogue audibles/play-calling

He very well may be. Never seen a snap of his. Just doesn’t feel like we’re “beating out the big dogs” for him bc the original question was why he was rated so low.
If I had to guess it’s probably because he’s small. Needs a year to get bigger but that’s pretty much true for most freshmen

Yea, that's a farce. I actually can't even believe that they would want to publicize that about Austin. They are basically admitting that they wanted him at ESPN to analyze the calls. I would have wanted to separate myself from that. ESPN hired him, and while "ESPN and the SEC are partners, we (SEC) don't tell them when to use him or what calls to analyze."

It's arrogance at its finest.

When Austin was put in the booth to do the games as an analyst his replacement on field was David Smith (a former Alabama QB!). Steve Shaw coordinated the vacancy.

SEC POLICY OF HIDING GAME OFFICIAL IDENTITIES NEEDS FIXING - Sports by Brooks

It's just ridiculous at this point and the media simply doesn't want to report it. Everyone in the conference should be livid over this.

Hey, this is fun. An article on the S(c)ankey statement on rigged officiating says:

"Sankey points out all the avenues fans have this season to get a better understanding of calls ...being made on Saturdays, including ...the addition of former SEC referee Matt Austin to the SEC Network’s coverage every weekend throughout the season."

So the Bammer Homeboy League (SEC) has hired an analyst for the explicit purpose of justifying and lying about rigged calls. Why do I not feel better?
Lol...they tell him via an earpiece what to say. They didn’t hire him and tell him to give his personal expert opinion on each call.

Film don’t lie. He’s very good

I hope he’s the 2nd coming of Randall Cobb.

But I watched his film. There was nothing crazy about it. We’ll see.

Anybody else think that the USCjr heavy handed punishment for a text message coming down less than a week removed from complaining about the officiating screw job against UF and timed with a release by Sankey on officiating smell suspicious?

It's almost like the conference is punishing USCjr for questioning conference integrity and making it known it will not tolerate officiating complaints and we all need to deal with how the SEC wants these games called.
Maybe they will officiate the game favoring us this weekend, too, as a punishment to never question them again?

Nothing crazy but he’s extremely productive and against good competition. Get him with a good coach like Tee and it’s not hard to see him being an NFL player in a few years

It sounded like Austin pissed off Brian Griese when Austin said that DT's pushing on Mac Jones' back to standup was definitely unnecessary roughness. Griese immediately and emphatically said that as a former QB that was NOT unnecessary roughness and should NOT have been a penalty.

Martin and Dooley were hired by Hamilton. I have mixed feelings about Tyndall. I actually thought he was a decent in-game coach. It was tough because the stuff at USM was not known at the time. But he was definitely sleazy, and we probably were in trouble with him long term.
Yeah, Tyndall was a really strong in-game coach. He just got buried under his gambles at Southern Miss.
