If you’ll notice, in the promotional pictures the team releases, the helmet is different than the one we wear on game days.

I’m trying to find a picture a buddy sent me from inside the locker rooms, basically there is a display there with multiple helmet options they let recruits try on and take pictures with.

None of this means Tennessee will be wearing those options this Saturday, but I found it interesting at the time that we’ve even got them.

If you are just talking about the helmet itself and not the design, I know some players already wear it.

Im going to show my idiocy here because I can’t think of the word for it, but doesn’t the one I posted look like it has a different paint scheme - i.e., the white paint looks like something Oregon might use.

Not complaining, but threads in the recruiting forum get long, and sometimes random, so I (admittedly) didn't sift thru to find the skinny.

Just lots of speculation that Rocker may be gone after this year... possible replacements were being thrown around

Can we get a discussion going on the difference in the helmets Maurer had wore previously to the one they have him wearing now👀 I’m curious as to why a helmet change.

The colors do look differrnt, but I assumed it is just due to photoshop and lighting. There is not enough change to be able to notice that on the field. If that is an alternate it would be a bigger waste of money than Auburn paying $30,000 to "change" their logo.

Conspiracy time... I don't think Maurer has had a concussion in either game, and part of Pruitt's frustration with him at Bama was that because of how he reacted to the hit the medical staff wanted to "play it safe"


First injury = neck stinger
2nd injury = bell rung a bit, but not a concussion

That’s why I said Sunday that 18 taking his helmet off was a big deal. Without him doing that I think he keeps playing

I think that's plausible. Probable? I'm not sure.

I just don't understand why some media sources (I think Simonton was one of them, but could be wrong) are saying definitively that Maurer has had "two concussions in two weeks." Isn't the truth that almost no one knows for sure if he's had 2, 1 or 0?

The helmets that are offered are the most advanced helmets avail for concussion and trauma prevention. I just did all the research on what’s avail before purchasing one for my son. BM was wearing a Riddell Speedflex (which is what I bought my son), I read where he switched to the new Schutt, which is their version of the Riddell. Both are excellent helmets with similar construction. My guess is it’s a mental thing, or the schutt May provide more neck support/protection than the Riddell? Can’t say? Both are great helmets.
