People tend to assume a concussion any time a player takes a head shot. And sometimes, it is. But UT trainers will take a player's helmet and sit him if the player seems at all dazed or has a headache. UT is cautious, and that's the right thing to do. CJP probably will address Maurer's status in tomorrow's presser. Since they took his helmet, he's probably in concussion protocol again... which may be precautionary or may be something more.

You have to wonder, though, if opposing teams will make it a strategy to try and knock Maurer out of the game, knowing we have backup issues? Some guys might consider that worth the penalty... assuming a flag is even thrown.

pretty clear bama felt this way

JUST LOOK AT VOLNATION TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!
I've been reading this site for a long time. Read it before I ever joined up and this is the first time in a long long time that I have seen this place come together.

Someone posted it a few pages back. They didn't crash, Wanya and the end stone-cold whipped 'em to pin the edge, and Trey pancaked the remaining defender. It's entirely possible the not only the Crouch walks in, but he would have followed a FB with no one to block. That overhead shot showed that Bama sold out to stop the sneak with their alignment, which makes JG's decision even dumber.

Yes. And a good indicator of what play was actually called, just follow the fullback. If he crashes the hole, it was intended to hand off to the RB.
If he remains behind the line of scrimmage, he's there to help push the QB on a sneak.

On the run prior to that, they spotted it a full yard and a half short of where Tim was down. Was so bizarre.
Having analyzed 230 plays a game, I can say refs are soo bad at spotting. It's mindboggling how they just call it and roll with it. Now...they get some really tough ones right as well. But some really obvious ones they miss by a mile.

Tua had the same thing at the end of last season. Had his ankle scoped and was out a couple of weeks. We'll have Tua Watch every day, with video and much ESPN analysis of his progress, with daily ratings on the ESPN Hobble Scale.
I think Tua should play it safe and rest his ankle for the rest of the year.

South Carolina has played good, inspired ball the last two weeks. That's going to be our toughest contest for the remainder of the season. Honestly, at this rate of play and improvement, and how trash everyone else looks, we should steamroll after that.
Those guys are playing hard, it is going to be a tought game.
