Being totally unprepared for GaSt and BYU is inexcusable, but I see a team that believes in what they’re doing doing out there and getting better. If not for the unforgivable BS roughing call on Taylor, and JG deciding to play Madden 2020 out there, we very well could’ve pulled an upset. If JG scores, it’s 28-21 and we have momentum with Tua out. The team is playing hard, and Maurer looks to be the real deal if he can stay on the field. USCjr will be tough, they are better than I expected, but 5 wins is attainable.

I'll give you GA state, but not BYU. We beat BYU by 21+ with Maurer starting, the rest of the team played pretty good. The breakdown in coverage would of never happened. This team should be 8-4 at worst and I'm leaning 9-3.

I'll wait until after the next 4 at least before I start going there. Last night was good and all but if we follow it up with losing 2 or 3 in the remaining 5 then it's not nearly as big as we hoped.

Pruitt has shown from day one that he knows what wins in the SEC. Winning the battle on the line of scrimmage. He has stuck with his youngsters this season and it's paying off. They dominated MS and looked really good at times last night. Terrible start but could end up being a good season after all.

Agree totally. I was actually really surprised at how bad he seemed to want this win over all the rest I have seen so far.. I LOVED the fire from him

With Maurer starting the coverage breakdown would’ve never happened? Huh?

I kind of feel the same way. Which is shocking after the way the season began that I could even feel like this. The massive mistake he made and continues to make really is putting Cici out on the field. Why was he on able to recognize what every armchair quarterback was able to see… That JG was just God awful at understanding the game of football. It didn’t matter that the younger guys were less experienced, they couldn’t possibly be any worse. Pruitt also showed very very bad body language in early-season losses to Georgia State and BYU. But over the last few weeks he has no doubt shown a lot more passion and just football chops in general. JG continues to be the thorn in his side. Hopefully he removed that thorn once and for all last night

I believed it at the time and I will always believe based on Pruitt's reactions during the GA ST game, that he was using that game to teach a lesson to the team that he had not been able to get across. I think he meant for the talent gap to pull the team through after a scare that would teach the lesson. However, I do not think he realized how badly the team would perform late in the game, especially at QB.

I've had this thought too.

More specifically, I think he was trying to get his team to motivate itself for a cupcake game and take cafe of business. Coaches can't be all rah-rah for every game. Teams have to be mature enough to take care of things when they should. He's trying to instill that mentality.

The Vols would have scored two more TDS and the coverage breakdown wouldn’t have mattered
Perhaps. But the fact is, the game was won with the points we had scored, and if not for the ridiculously bad, inexcusable coverage breakdown by Taylor, we win that game. Period.

Totally agree... I was simply arguing the point of how poor QB play contributed to the loss
