How about we trademark “if it wasn’t for the real UT your dumbasses would be speaking Spanish”
Don't look now, but I looked up just out of curiosity and saw that for elementary students in Texas, 52% are Hispanic and 29% are Caucasian. To me that means we are already there.

Hoke did him a favor. He was going down an Antonio Brown path. That Instagram stunt was him showing his azz...nothing about the team.
IG thing was dumb granted but he’s not an AB type guy. He was pissed and handled it poorly.

Show me another instance before or after. Really no history. Guys like AB are constant drama.

I think a lot of people overreacted on Banks, like they did on Thompson. Not condoning anything they did or said, but the structure and discipline of a team environment helps a lot of kids who need boundaries and guidance and won't get it elsewhere. Banks may not earn his way back, and Pruitt might decide that's not the best scenario for the team, but the rush to judgment was swift-- and too much of that was the media fanning the flames. We don't always get the full story from the media, and the opinion they shape isn't always right.
Been out of the loop a few days. Is Banks going to have the opportunity to earn his way back on to the team? Personally, I thought kicking him off the team a bit harsh. Plenty of players who have done worse IMO. I would not be against Pruitt welcoming him back.

OH CRAP!
f that. bammer needs a home n away w tosu

I’m excited but also concerned that Barnes is going against what made him successful here.

Most felt like he had transformed himself going away from the one and done model and Springer will be the 3rd maybe 4th one and done type recruit in the last year.

This is borrowing trouble IMO.

Keep our history with 5*s in mind. Most of them haven't gone one-and-done. Tobias Harris did, but Jarnell Stokes and Scotty Hopson both played here for three years and Robert Hubbs played for four. So assuming that any or all of these guys are one-and-done is counting your chickens before they hatch.

Also, you talk about one-and-dones like they're a bad thing. If these players are good enough to be drafted after their freshman year, then they'll give us some very good ball while they're here - and putting guys into the NBA will help Barnes continue to recruit at a very high level for as long as he coaches here. It's a good problem to have.

From Rob Lewis on Springer:

I was told late last night that it would be today, but told now that it may not be aired until Monday or Tuesday. As I've been saying all week this is all about ESPN finding a place to fit it in and broadcast it on one of their platforms.

Apologize for putting out that it would be today, but that was the info I got from an excellent source late last night. Again, I know some will find this hard to believe, there is no drama here.

Gotta be committing to UT. Promise you ESPN wouldn’t have a problem making time for him if he was committing to Kentucky, Duke, UNC, etc.

A bit barbaric for some, but I agree with you.

Check out Noble Ciders "The Greenhouse" for a meal if you get the chance. One of my favorite newer restaurants.
Wasn't a huge fan of that one. But it was opening week. May give em a year and try again.

I am banking on these kids are wanting more from Barnes than basketball.....they, and , more importantly, their parents, are wanting what Barnes and staff provides off the court as much as what he does for them on the court. For this, it may take more than a single year to acheive. I am not naive to think some are doing the one and done strategy, but I think more are not.

I was lucky to have been very close to Pat and this is how she recruited.....directly at the parents / grandparents. Selling them as much or more to how she would mold their child to become special on and off the court. This is really what caused the divide between her and Geno, but I will not get into that at this point.

Either way, I am looking forward to this new era of UT basketball and what it may bring!!
