Maurer listed as the starter for Bama

Give him another chance to prove the first half vs UGA wasn't a fluke. He's been a turnover machine since.
More lies from the captain of lies... Since becoming the starter he's thrown 2 TD's and 3 INT's. That's not being a "turnover machine". But expecting the truth from you has proven to be pure foolishness. You and Dobbs4Heisman are the two most intellectually dishonest people I've met on this board in 13 years. Congratulations.

He's doing that because he pushes the ball down field and is still gaining the experience and knowledge needed to avoid some of those turnovers. They're aggressive mistakes that can be coached up and built on. Far better than being so frozen with risk aversion that you never fail... because you never try anything that pushes the limit.

It's actually only one good quarter to be honest. Two TDs when we were hype to start the game. He did give us a spark for a quarter which is great. Then we settled down and real football started.

Since the first quarter of UGA he has 0 TDs and 3 ints in basically three quarters.

Zero TDs and an int every quarter, or once every ten passes, is a turnover machine.

If JG played like that you would be having a party. Gtfoh

Play him if he's fine. Sounds like a bunch of over protecting momma's in here. Bama doesn't have a great defense (to their standards) and not anyone that lays a lick like rueben Foster. No way we keep up with their offense but it'll be good reps for BM

At least he is good for some lengthy time-consuming drives before he turns the ball over, which gives the D some valuable time off the field. Beats the heck out of 3 and outs on several possessions in a row to keep the D exhausted. As he continues to see PT the game will slow down for him and the mistakes should as well. If he was a RS Jr. and still having those issues then I would worry.

I just hope he doesn't get hurt if he starts. We need him more with SCAR and the rest of the schedule. We have a realistic chance of winning them.
Maurer needs as many reps as he can get against quality defenses. That will help him more than anything against the rest of the schedule.

As far as getting hurt, EVERY game presents the risk of getting hurt for any player out there. IMO, one of the worst things a player or coach, for that matter, can do is play/coach scared.

What are you people saying? Don’t play him because he may get hurt? This is football and we play to win not play to not get hurt. My goodness people we can win this. Anything can happen but we have to play our best and compete to win. What kind of message will be send if we play a game just to get by.

Go Vols!

BM is our only chance of keeping it respectable.

definition of "respectable"?. I don't think any player this year on roster can keep this score respectable. Need 2 more years minimum of top 10 recruiting to have a shot at that. Sorry.

Plus, he fumbled on a sack that was his responsibility to be aware of which resulted in a td return. I'm all for giving Maurer a shot at the reins since TAN-o doesn't seem like a viable winning option, but it is baffling to see the gap between the factual reality of Maurer's mediocre play and the perception of his play.

I kinda agree. We haven't put it together with JG and BM could be the spark the other guys need.

He hasn't played well. We were "energized" for one quarter. That wears off though. He hasn't shown he can execute consistently.

If he plays the same next game as the last three quarters they will play JG and wait on Bailey.

Pruitt will start JG, sad but true. I have no idea why he likes JG so much...…..

Not if Mauer is healthy he won't. I honestly hope JG starts and finishes against Ala. We aren't beating them and heed Brian healthy for the rest of our games. No reason for Brian to take that physical beating if we can't win . We saw Chaney doesn't trust JG, with how conservative we were when he was in the game. Chaney opens it up with Brian in the game. We need Brian healthy for the winnable games after we play Ala. If he liked JG that much he would still be starting

Ok if he opens it up so much with BM vs JG, then why is BM throwing shorter passes?

Doesn't add up.

Jg doesn't throw many int. Cause he passes mostly short passing routes, good for stats but not many points

BAMA is not a joke, and not "just another team", their players are serious, they play every down, every time, every minute. There will not be one time Maurer takes a snap, and isn't in danger from the BAMA line, they will be coming, if you think UGA can hit hard (and they can), wait until we see what BAMA does to us at home. Maurer has the makings of a really good QB, he needs to stay healthy. Two games started, two games out with injury, he has never faced anything like the BAMA -D-.

Who averages more yards per pass and more yards per completion?

I'll save you the trouble. It's JG.

So BM is throwing shorter passes and STILL turning it over.

BAMA will be playing for a NATY this year, with that not so great -D-.

Why is Maurer's yards per attempt less than JGs if this is true?
