all we've ever heard from Pruitt is that they like Shrout, love his arm, but he's just not there from a decision making standpoint. and that's what's kept him from getting more reps.I don’t think JG was going to be here next year. Either he would be improved enough to test the draft, or be bad enough to warrant a transfer. Looks like the latter now.
Rumor was that Pruitt wasn’t high on Shrout anyway and that appears to have some credibility now.
That really just leaves Maurer. Maurer doesn’t have to play like a Heisman candidate. If he just plays decent showing his potential it’s enough to plant a seed of doubt in Bailey. I hope Bailey sticks but it could be harder to hold on to him now.
i htink it is a foregone conclusion that JG will likely transfer.
so next year you'll have shrout, maurer, hill and bailey, and i'm now under the impression they'll still try do something else at QB from a transfer standpoint.
the only thing they've wanted is real competition at the QB spot and this year was as close as they've gotten to it....and that was just at the #2 spot.
next year will be the first year they'll have a real competition for the starting job....Maurer's experience that he's getting will be invaluable, Hill comes in with experience, but Bailey is still going to be the most talented one in the room. should be interesting. Shrout...well, i think it's next year or never for him to move up the depth chart....he's already used his RS, so he might have some decisions to make if things stay the same with him.
