Darnell Wright: just don't give up on us

If this is truly your opinion, then no amount of "evidence" will change your mind.

If you really think 2018's OL was better than 2019 - then you can't be convinced of anything.

If you think that losing all the starters from the DL is something that TN had the depth and experience to magically replace, then there is no convincing you of anything.

If you think that 98% of people that predicted JG to have a better year were stupid - then no one can persuade you differently.

If you can't appreciate that our leading tackler (HT) wasn't on the team last year - I guess you're just smarter than the math.

If you don't see Austin Pope, and the amazing job he's done blocking this year - then I can understand why you think BN is nothing more than a recruiter.

If you don't notice that our defensive secondary has had some issues outside coaching and effort (suspensions, injuries, etc.), and is playing okay despite relying on third stringers and TF - well, then you should go try out.

But, I'm sure you're real smart - and know a lot about football. If you haven't seen ANY evidence on the field, I guess it doesn't exist.
And winning five games last year and possibly only winning one or two this year is great Improvement also correct? When do all these wonderful statistics lead to wins? Pruitt is in his second year with his system and his players. The schedule was much weaker this year than last year yet we probably will win 3 less games. I don't care about all the inside the game stats if you don't win. If a baseball team has 25 hits but lose one to nothing they still lose.

You're unhappy. None of us are happy. But we don't need his "love" nor does he need ours.

He's not unfriendly. He just speaks his mind rather than serving up some politically correct bs that the PR department (or a drug salesman) would prefer. The Caravan was an outmoded waste of University resources designed for a time long gone by. Vol Calls truly is a waste of time meant for the same 25 callers every week who ask or comment on the same issues every week and then hang up and listen.

We don't need a radio or TV personality. We need a football guy to coach a football team. We've got a football guy and it is entirely too early to know if he will be successful as a coach. I see progress. You don't. But it really sounds like you don't like him because he isn't a smooth talking snake oil salesman, not because he isn't showing progress as a coach.
The problem is we got neither. Until I start seeing some wins or for god sakes even being competitive in some of these conference games, my opinion won't change.

From what I can ascertain it's pretty certain that you like Pruitt and the state of the program right now. I'm not happy with the way things are right now and that's where we differ. Outside of this discussion we may agree on everything else. Who knows?

Of course it's certain she likes the state of the program right now!

Show your irrefutable evidence that both not only wanted the job, but wasn’t interviewed and turned us down.
Mike Leach was definitely ready to sign. Fulmer axed the deal. As a matter of fact I just found an article about that the other day. I will try to locate it again and that will be your proof.

One is not needed. If he's able to turn it around it shouldnt matter if he is beloved for his personality or cares fans feel loved by him. Hes getting paid to produce on the football field. I'm gonna guess some wont like that because they didnt like Fulmer or his hiring of Pruitt. Some wont because the Admin/boosters finally got lucky without spending a ton of cash on a name. I'm convinced some fans would rather their opinion be right.

If he doesnt, he ll get fired eventually and we ll start the cycle all over again. And more than likely based on the last decade, it wont be a name with a big check and we ll be waiting and hoping again.

As far as your opinion, keep it. No reason to give it away.

Obviously she does because all she done is bash me because I'm not happy about the state of the program.
No true vol fan is happy with the state of the program right now. Nobody in their right mind would fire a coach after 17 games, with a decent recruiting class and a YOUNG group of players who are fighting and believe in him. You are not being bashed for your opinion, just the arrogant condesending way you present it! Looks like you have been sampling some of the drugs you are peddling!

Actually I would love to be proven wrong there would be nothing greater than to see this team get better. But I know good football when I see it and I know a good football coach when I see it. I see regression

Not close to the level of your childish, arrogant and condesending responses you make. Sorry to tell you this but you are not as important as you think you are or try to represent yourself as. It's obvious, just think about it. I bet you will respond just so you can get "the last word in". Don't worry I will not respond so you can continue on with your arrogant and condesending attiude! LOL

God bless you my child

You need to make up your mind, either people criticize the players too much, or we give them a pass. So which is it?

I've stated before if a player isn't pulling his weight or just isn't buying then he needs to be sat. I've also said I'd rather lose with a team of freshman giving it their all then with a team of quitters.

So no I'm not giving them pass, but the coaching hasn't helped them either. Defense is still lining up wrong and looks confused, which is a bad look halfway into the season. They can't seem to pick 5 oline guys and stick with them. They stuck with a QB who wasn't producing anything for 4 games too long. They appear to have not taken the time during the off season to prepare either freshman QB in case their starter goes down.

The coaching decisions have made us all scratch our heads and ask wtf is going on. So no the players don't need to apologize. Do they need to do better? Yes. Do I think coaching isn't helping them any? Yes.

It all falls back to coaching in the end.

Make up his mind?

Why does it always HAVE TO be either or?

Is it that hard to fathom that it's a combination of disjointed coaching AND players not operating at capacity?

I see people going back and forth about "Who's fault is it??" It's pretty obvious there is a healthy bit of both as to why we're 1- 4.

Don't give up on us, baby
We're still worth one more try
I know we put a last one by
Just for a rainy evening
When maybe stars are few
Don't give up on us, I know
We can still come through

I want to apologize for attacking you personally yesterday--it was unkind and unnecessary--and flat out WRONG!!!
I disagree with most of all that you have said in this thread....but I have NO EXCUSE for my sin against you.
Please forgive me. I was completely WRONG!

GO VOLS!

I don't like the direction of the football program but I'll still be watching the games and listening to the Vol Network;)

Every thread devolves to this. People who are encouraged about the coaching staff and the future of the program and people who are not. Is there anything else to talk about that hasn't already been said besides attacking each other?

Pretty much the shape of things today. It doesn’t matter what the topic is. The human race and the internet, another example of technology surpassing mankind’s capability of using it wisely.

Oh crap, I mean humankind for the PC crowd.

And others feel different.

Pruitt has dug a hole for himself with a program that was already in one to begin with. The team is still bought in regardless of a fans perception that only sees a fraction of what's actually going on. When or if that changes he will no longer be in position to climb out and will probably be fired shortly after.

Until then, theres no reason for anyone to change their opinion one way or the other unless they feel the need. It's not going to matter anyway.
