By "our idiot fans that act like children," I mean just that - the portion of our fanbase that thinks burning the program to the ground is the best way to fix it.It really isn't all the "fans." The "Empty Neyland" crowd believes improvement is simply a question of money (the Chicago school of football advancement). Withhold income from UT by starving the team for attending fans and, miraculously, it will instantly be all orange blossoms and sunshine.
I think they are really a relatively small group of exceptionally frustrated, exceptionally impatient and frequent posters. I've been around for a long time. Neyland will NEVER be empty, win or lose, as long as the team works as hard as this one appears to be working. Every big time program has gone through both peaks and valleys. UT is no different. Many frequent posters today just don't know (or don't care to remember) that the current "winning programs" like Clemson, Alabama, Florida, Notre Dame and Ohio State all sucked in very recent times or that schools like Nebraska, UCLA, Southern Cal and Miami were as good as it gets, also in recent times.
You millennials get off my lawn!GBO!
Well well here comes the coach worshippers out in full force. Yes the players do bear some responsibility. But these coaches are making millions of dollars. And they can't even be competitive against anybody in the conference and barely competitive against division 2 competition
It is the coach's responsibility to make sure that the players are lined up correctly. If the players are constantly making mistakes those players need to be pulled off the field. That's on the coaches. Also it looks like Pruitt screwed up again by playing the wrong quarterback all season. Mauer cannot put himself in the game that's up to the coaches. Instead we stuck with JG which was a dismal failure and anybody could see it except for our coaches. Coaches are also responsible for time management and utilization of time outs which have worked against us many times. Coaches do matter.Coaches absolutely shoulder much blame. But think about it. The team that just took the field against UGA beats GS and BYU. Why did they look better? Did the coaching staff change? Nope. The players seemed to want it more and executed the gameplan the coaches have been calling all season. I am not a coach worshipper. Rather a person who views the team sport of football requiring both players and coaches doing their jobs effectively every week to attain success.
I can name game after game after game where players justbdidnt do their jobs and execute. Guess what? The team lost. Look no further than Clemson's beatdown of Bama last year. Dabo is not the better coach. Bama had more talent. What happened? Bamas players failed to execute at their mormal ultra high level. The lost. But hey, dont let facts gte in the way of laying virtually everything on the coaches lap just because they are getting paid.
Did it ever occur that keeping a horrible coach could be burning the program to the ground? Everybody's got a different opinion of what could fix the problem. Some people think sticking with the status quo is magically going to make this coaching staff great someday. Other see the writing on the wall and know that you either got it or you don't and obviously Pruitt doesn't.By "our idiot fans that act like children," I mean just that - the portion of our fanbase that thinks burning the program to the ground is the best way to fix it.
I wish it were only posters on this board, but I know too many personally for that to be true.
And it's not the actual threat threat that our stadium would be empty, it's the general malaise that such a statement brings with it - it lingers MUCH longer than if Neyland actually had been emptied - at least that would have a definitive beginning and end.

For one quarter they looked like Tennessee again....I was impressed with the fire and the excitement...However youth and inexperience got the best of them in the end...No way we were gonna be able to stay on the field with that team for very long...But I saw positives so now they need to work on putting 4 full quarters together and then we'll have something.Hopefully last night sent a message to the players that support for them is still there.
A lot of people disagree with you; that’s the odd thing about opinions.Did it ever occur that keeping a horrible coach could be burning the program to the ground? Anyone could see it except the coaches and KTown King LOLIt is the coach's responsibility to make sure that the players are lined up correctly. They came out ready to play football. 95% of that was Jennings, but it rubbed off on the others finally. Gave me hope going forward. For one quarter they looked like Tennessee again....I was impressed with the fire and the excitement...However youth and inexperience got the best of them in the end...No way we were gonna be able to stay on the field with that team for very long...But I saw positives so now they need to work on putting 4 full quarters together and then we'll have something.
You make some good points however I just doing see Pruitt being the right guy to fix this mess. We should have hired someone who had experience at this level. We were too far down to hire a guy who has to learn in the job.Players have to execute but it's the coaches responsibility to hold them accountable and put them in a position to succeed. You see it all the time where players underachieve under one coach and then another coach comes in and Things Are entirely different.Coaching absolutely matters. A lot. But so does player execution. Thats my only point. As I have said, there are game after game where players have costed the team games not coaches. Take the Super Bowl when the Eagles beat the Patriots. Tom Brady. One of the all time greats gets stripped and loses a fumble. Was that on coaching? No it wasnt. It was players making a great play. Last years SB, the Pats defense put on one of the greatest defensive efforts in NFL history. Was that all on coaches? No. A big part was on the players. I have yet to see hardly anyone give credit to tye coaches for our improvement Saturday. It seems people just want to blame coaches when we lose and give them zero credit when we win. Like last years big wins over ranked Auburn and UK. Was Pruitt given credit there? Not really. Neither was JG really. Even though JG/Pruitt did something that no coach/QB since Tee and Fulmer did people said it was just a fluke.
As far as JG goes, it seems that fans think its just simple. Oh well Pruitt screwed up the QB sitiation. And maybe he did. But were you at practice every week? Did you see what he and the staff did? I know I didnt. You are just engaging in fan hindsight. Its always easy as a fan to sit back and think you know what you are talking about. But coaching a college football team isnt easy.
Just thought it was worth posting. They're still young men playing a game as hard as they can. Makes me a little sad to think they believe we would give up
They’re opinions. You have yours, and I have mine. There is no reason for me to believe I can change your mind, so why should I waste my time trying? You are welcome to waste yours trying to change my mind, however. Can you give evidence you think he's the right guy? Take emotion out. I can give plenty of evidence he's not.
