I disagree. He believes in him enough to start him halfway through his Freshman season over a 3 year starter. That says a lot even if the guy he replaced wasn't getting it done.

He stuck with him after the INT. I just think Pruitt comes from the Saban style of downplaying and critical coaching. I think he also knows that Maurer has plenty of confidence and is trying to keep him even keeled and not creating ridiculous expectations that he may or may not be able to live up to.

It's not like Maurer flashed nearly as much before tonight.
Agreed and honestly, Maurer played decent.(really good for 1 qtr) We've just been sucking at QB so long, he looks great in comparison to what we're used to.
But no problem with Pruitt keeping the expectation at 'really good'. Push him, make him better.

Haven't followed recruiting this year as close as I normally do. Any of you guys who have paid better attention to it than me mind giving an outlook on where it's headed?

It's better than I thought it would be at this point in the season. I thought for sure there would be major defections after the start. I do believe LA vol said something a few weeks back about they are still buying what the coaching staff is selling.

We were in a good shape with some high end uncommitted guys before the season. The start definitely hasn't helped and may have eliminated some.

There is still plenty of games to change the perception of this being a 1 or 2 win team and headed nowhere in the future. They need to win down the stretch and it will help.

The State game next week is critical. If they can pull out a win I think the team can gain some momentum going down the stretch. I'm close to calling it a must win.

It is. And for that exact reason.

This team is not good and their record proves as much. But I do believe they are bought in and invested. Now they need to see it pay off on the scoreboard.

The other one I point to is SC. They need to get one of those and they cant lose to UAB or Vandy. UK is very winnable and Bryant's situation at Mizzou may make that one more interesting.

Starting to really wonder if the Ansley hire was a good one. Don't think it would be the worst thing in the world if Pruitt took it back over. Not many guys call a better defense than Jeremy.
I think Pruitt is still in charge of most of it. He doesn’t call the plays but he’s said himself he’ll change something if he doesn’t like it. So that’s basically being in charge.

You can see the difference in him when the offense is on the field vs. when the defense is on the field. Chaney truly has autonomy. Ansley does not.

I think them keeping playing JG and gassing him up in the media is more about they don’t want him to pack it in and bolt just yet bc they are so low on shrout.
Completely because otherwise there is no reason to praise him. Although I will give the devil his due he acted professionally tonight.

we also really need Maurer to establish himself as the man going forward and into next year because we are losing a ton of production on offense. Top 2 WRs. Top TE. Trey is probably gone if he’s cleared, Kennedy is gone. I could see chandler leaving bc i think he tests well so could work his way into a late round pick maybe.

I wish we could genetically engineer an entire football team using JJ15's DNA.

Kid is everything you want in a football player. Wish he could have been part of a functional UT program. Very happy he got a second chance.

Reinstating JJ is a decision that Pruitt absolutely nailed and is proof for me that he knows what is needed for a winning program.... hope we give him time to bring in a team full of those types.

We would be the best team in CFB.
