Recruiting Forum Football Talk II

People don’t like it when we say it, but if we had anybody else at QB we would be 3-1 with a competitive loss to Fl. That doesn’t mean there aren’t other issues, there clearly are. But nobody would be saying Pruitt isn’t the guy and that we should fire him.

Dobbs saved the interns job. When he left it was clear there was no real recruiting or development. Pruitt doesn’t have that luxury. He has to develop what we have without a QB. We’re waiting on Bailey and hoping he’s good. If he is we’ll be competitive with him as long as Pruitt keeps recruiting like he did in the 2019 class.

These guys didn’t come to Ut and forget how to coach. And as I said last night, nobody thought any coach on our staff was garbage before they got here. They are all high quality and highly respected coaches. That’s undeniable.
It’s really lazy to blame everything on the coaches while ignoring all the major issues the program had before they got here. Everyone is always talking about just starting over. Anyone who’s been paying attention knows we are in the second year of the start over.

The difference between looking like an average coach to a good coach is an elite QB. The only thing keeping people from singing Pruitt’s praises about us being 3-1 and competitive with everyone is that we do not have a QB.

Hopefully Maurer changes that
I agree with a great QB we are 3-1. But my worry is that all of our QBs do not look good or well developed. Shrout and Maurer are both JPs recruits. They should look better than what they have. Maybe with more chances with the 1’s we will see a change.

Lol, so just realized what the Football Forum reminds me of.....

It reminds me of back in the Medieval Times when everyone just listened to nobles about who should be murdered and let people convince them with no reason that it was the right thing to do. Hang him! Cut off his head!

Lol. Sorry thought it was funny in a weird way.

Damn you old, then

It isn’t that I don’t agree, but what is the issue? Every QB that Chaney has ever coached got better and played well. JG is the exception. Why? Is it because Chaney suddenly forgot what he was doing? Or is it more likely that JG just doesn’t have it?

Matt Campbell is the truth. I really hope USC doesn’t fire Muscrap for him. He would be a problem. He would be my first call if Pruitt didn’t work out. Cheap route (our style) and has head coaching experience. No I am not saying fire Pruitt before the backlash comes.

To all of ya'll that prayed thank you.

I made it out alive!

Tough mudders are lame. I mean, they’re awesome if you have a good group of friends and have a good time and push each other. I used to run them and Spartans with old military buddies when I lived in Virginia.

But the fact that a lot of people walk in between obstacles and a lot of people take long breaks, don’t really push themselves. etc, don’t show up in shape. yet everyone gets a participation trophy (headband).

I’d have more “respect” or whatever if you had to finish within X period of time based on age or whatever before getting a headband.

JMO

Cash cow those things are though.

Congrats for finishing. I’m in no way suggesting you’re one of the lazy walkers. Just bishing because I hate the “everyone wins” world we live in.

Almost as lazy as blaming everything in year 2 on the QB.

I think JG is just bad and a lost cause. I think we would see more from Maurer and Shrout if Chaney was full time QB coach. I don’t think Weinke is a good coach and Chaney has spent all his free time with the OL it seems. We have to keep Bailey and possibly get a GT for next year as I bet Shrout and JG are gone.

I don’t agree. If you start him you see him finish the game. Unless he goes full Nate Peterman.

They plan to play both. They've been working on ways to use both during the bye. Maurer adds a running element and they want to see if he can get the run game going.

You didn't think Maurer was gonna play the whole game? No way JG wasn't gonna see the field.

Unless BM gets hot... Yeah I think it was pretty much expected that multiple QBs would play...

To be honest I am..because when you make that kinda switch it’s smart to never look back..but then again Pruitt has never been a HC before so this is one of his inexperienced decisions as a HC.Both qb’s will be looking over their shoulder now,if this was his plan all along he shouldn’t have even bothered taking JG out.

QB is an issue, but there is a lot more going on than that
