The Atlanta Braves

I think I can appreciate being more offended by the names than by the chop. No one is doing the chop and thinking about Native American heritage. It’s no different than the jump around or anything else to me.
The one thing the Braves have going for them is that their name is probably more of a celebration of a positive attribute. It's really not that different from Volunteers.

That one is certainly the worst.
What changed my perspective on Redskins is a mockumentary called CSA which is a fake history based on if the south had won the Civil War. At one point they take a break and read a fake news update with sports scores and one of the teams is the New York N's.

It's worth going to find. It's funny and shocking all the way through.

So the watch ESPN app no longer exists? I'm probably late discovering this, but why would they get rid of it? Watched a lot of UT Basketball this way

But there is a fee now to watch games? At least that's what popped up for me
There's a fee for ESPN+. You can watch most of the stuff you care about for free by just having a cable/satellite/streaming provider and logging in.

Right. It’s a group, not a derogatory name (like the Warriors or the Irish or the Volunteers). To me I have no problem with that.

The chop is a caricature that comes directly out of all those straight up racist cowboy-and-Indian shows from the 40s and 50s. Helsley is absolutely right to describe it as depicting Natives like cavemen. It may not be as bad as "Redskins" or Chief Wahoo but it's pretty damn racist.

So....Kansas had Snoop Dogg come perform for their Late Night at the Phog basketball opener and they’re surprised that it got a little raucous and vulgar? Just how tone deaf are they?

Okay but when the chop is done, who is depicting Native Americans? Nobody (or nobody should be) is dressed like Chief Nocahoma (that was racist) and trying to “act like” a Native American. It’s a rallying cry and a chant. That’s just my personal opinion though.

The team name is the Braves. We stole the chop and chant from another team named the Seminoles, who pays cash money to a local tribe to say that all their racist tropes are A-OK. You're really arguing that the chop and chant has nothing to do with Native Americans at all, that it's just some disembodied random rallying cry?

No I did not say it has nothing to do with Native Americans at all. I said when the chop is done in Suntrust Park, who is depicting Native Americans? Is anybody dressed as a Native American? When the chop is being done, is anyone making fun of Native Americans or meant to demean them? That’s my overall point.

Like I said if we never did the chop again I’m not going to complain or whine. I just believe doing the chop is racist. Inappropriate? I can understand. Racist or racism is a big word.

Z thought it was an orgy chant
