A better cultural fit and it restarts his clock. It would probably be a safe move for him. The way I see Mississippi Sy heading theres a good chance he will be on the hot seat next year.

He's also from Pittsburgh. Oddly enough I think his "top" job would probably be Penn State. Unless Rutgers has a good chunk of money or he just doesn't like being in the SEC West I would be pretty surprised if he left after just 2 seasons for Rutgers.

If Maurer starts out poorly or offense stays stagnant, then ppl are just going to ask for Shrout. Need patience with Mauer if you're going to throw him in the fire.

Exactly. In reality, starting Maurer is a commitment for November unless he pulls a Peterman. He seems to be much stronger mentally than him though. If he can improve enough personally along with the O overall throughout October, they have an opportunity to close it out well and put this JG stuff behind them. A win or two in October would be a plus.

He might seem stronger mentally but it’s a very safe bet he isn’t nearly as good as peterman.

Hopefully I am wrong but I think starting 18 will be a disaster.

Agreed, I believe Maurer has the athletic ability and moxy to do something special, while at the same time second guess your decision on playing him. He's young and going to be out of control on some plays, but it will be fun to watch.

BM is much more confident than Peterman imo. Peterman seemed to be defeated before every game he played in. I see more of RF or TB type of confidence in BM. He wants to win and loves the challenge. I’m hoping that type of personality is just what this team needs. We need some luck and hitting at QB right now could get this thing rolling in the right direction. I truly believe JG has been holding this team back the first couple games.

Ainges bromance with JG is disgusting. Cant he see that he has gone donkey brain. Heck JG doesnt believe in himself, the only person who does is Ainge.

Bruin, what is your definition of disaster?

Much worse than we have seen already.

I think he throws a pick 6 with a total of 3 or more picks if he plays the entire game.

Im basing this off how many times florida defenders got their hands on his passes last game. 8 of 11 they got their paws on

I believe in him in that it’s possible he regains his confidence. The issue is he has to have a perfect start to a game and get into a quick rhythm. Doubtful in game like this

eh, Ainge has said more than once that JG's issues are mental.

but he's got a soft spot for the kid. i think he has a relationship with him and knows him fairly well. he's not going to bad mouth him...nor should he. but he's not been dishonest on his assessments of how he's played and why.........

I think you will see a much different package for him. IMO, a lot of role outs with 2-3 receivers to one side, easy reads if not tuck and run. TE should also have a big day if they counter with edge pressure.
Very similar to Crompton game plan.

So if we get Grimes, the trio, Hardy, and Baron that seems like a super solid haul all at positions of need. We just have to keep building like this. I would be super happy with that

Lets hope so. My gut says ESD will be won’t be good to us. Commits will stay quiet until then, but not sign, or outright jump to another school in December. We were already trying to overcome negative recruiting before Ga St.

I’d agree with that if he plays.

JMO but I think VQ coming out talking about him starting is to force Ga to prepare for such. I’m not convinced they are being sold an accurate bill of goods

I don’t know how to precisely define disaster but it’s going to be really rough for sure. Kirby will be ready to destroy him.

i tend to agree. i've not seen anything from Maurer, performance wise, that says we're going to see some giant upgrade. he's fearless, which is a good thing...up to a point. if BM can prevent being the turnover machine he could be, then fine.....but......i find it hard to believe that he's going to be "error free" in a game like this.......

i don't. especially at this part of the season..........

the only reason i'm not being critical of the thought of playing maurer is because JG hasn't exactly presented himself as all that much better of an option.

i don't think there's really any "good" choices right now. i think JG's head is scrambled, and finding confidence now, against UGA, is a daunting task, especially when you got yanked in the last game and you're seeing how the reps are being distributed since.....

at least maurer has the right mindset, and does have a certain energy to him.....so we'll see what happens....i don't think the outcome changes all that much either way...another reason i'm not overly critical, either way we decide to go with the QB.

it's the devil you know vs. the devil you don't imo....not a ton of good options.......
