Hard to say. You just never know. Other freshmen QBs have definitely out performed JG. He will make mistakes but will his other plays make it worth it? Time will tell.I hate it but I think he gives us no chance to win more than the uab game. JG regaining his confidence of a year ago is our only shot to win 4/5 more games imo
These same fans that love Maurer now, will turn on him if he has a 3 INT game against UGA.
I just want to see progress at that position.
Beat Georgia 155 pointsSo... here is a little exercise I feel like doing, just to try to get some perspective on where Pruitt is as a head coach. The numbers are completely subjective, but I'm trying to use a point system to highlight the high and low points of his time here to get an idea for where things are at.
Year 1:
Pruitt is hired, Baseline: 0
Inspires at the Introduction Presser: 1
Acquires a top level strength coach: 4
Assembles an expensive experienced staff of high quality recruiters: 5
First signing class. It was short notice. Swung big and missed on a lot of them. Fillers have done not much of note: 1
Drop of season ending injury occurrences overall: 3
Inconsistent offense in year 1: -5 points
Lack of development of older players: -3 points
Upset of Auburn: 5 points
Upset of Kentucky: 4 points
Disappointing losses to Mizzou and Vandy to miss a bowl game: -10 points
Self admission of essentially losing the team at the end of the year: -5 points
Retrospective hire of Helton: -5 points
Avoidance of Helton buyout: 2 points
2nd signing class: 7 points
Media / Fan relations: -3 points
Total: 1 In retrospect, I'd say that is pretty fair. Some good and bad, everything pretty much washed out.
Year 2:
Perceived problems in landing a OC: - 4 points
Hiring of Chaney: 5 points
Retaining Fitz as strength coach: 3 points
Questionable upgrade of Ansley: 2 points
Hiring Tee: 4 points
Georgia State Loss: - 15 points
BYU Loss: - 3 points
Regression of QB: -10 points
Lack of progress of most other players: - 3 points
Regression of defense: - 7 points
On field confusion of assignments: -5 points
Perceived schism of older and newer players (lack of buy in): -7 points.
Year 2 Total so far: -40
Total: So, without any preconceived outcome, I assigned the points above, which are obviously clearly arbitrary based on my opinion. You may have differences in opinion, point totals, etc, but let me math this real quick....
Pruitt's job performance so far merits a -39. He needs to do a lot to get things going in the right direction, because it's clearly trending down.

Shock the world y'all. 69-68 in the most insane shootout in football history. Nice. Maurer "the magic man" passes for 4 TDs and runs for 2 in his career opener as a starter. Vol fans storm the field and sacrifice UGA by staking him on the power T, burning the body. Smoky eats the corpse. We instantly gets commits from several 5 stars. Camera pans to Phil, seen crying from the press box. You can read his lips "my god the redneck MFer did it".
3 hours later Pruitt is fired due to his handling of the Banks situation.
I keep saying we have some of the most ignorant fans in all of college football but then someone quickly lets me know our fans aren’t part of the problem.I just can’t with this fan base. Some moron on FB has me responding to his dumbass comparisons of JJ situation and Banks. Said JJ quit and said things about fans on his way out. Called him a thug.
Why do we have some of the dumbest fans?

Interesting thought. This all seems fair to me.
In this exercise, is there a number you’d say is so bad that termination is warranted? -50? -75? -100?
Is there a number you think would be good progress by the end of the year? -25? -15?
For all of the good social media can do for humanity, the negatives of it far out weights the positives. Knoxville media is on a witch hunt for anything negative regarding UT football. They will probably go back to find anything dirty on all players and coaches.
