I can't fault Pruitt for what he said because it is open to many different interpretations. Maybe he was pissed at Banks. Maybe he was pissed at the system that makes such a big deal out of nothing. Maybe he generally thought his player should be given preferential treatment for being a UT football player. Banks did his coach no favors in the way he behaved. If he would have been respectful and polite, even if he felt he was in the right. If he'd of said "hey, I thought this was taken care of.". But instead he made the situation worse. If he would have simply acted like a decent human being this would have been a big fat nothing. It actually could have been a positive by showing a player in a bad situation coming out looking like a classy guy and a great reflection on the university and the football team. Opportunity lost I guess.I think part of the problem is that Pruitt didn’t understand the process. He was trying to explain that the kids have no family to help, and he had a state trooper help with the process. Not sure he understood why a warrant was issued.
But as I said before, it was a learning moment because I don’t he knew that would be a public conversation.

For all of the good social media can do for humanity, the negatives of it far out weights the positives. Knoxville media is on a witch hunt for anything negative regarding UT football. They will probably go back to find anything dirty on all players and coaches.
Stupid
pretty sure it’s the police's job to uncover crimes. It’s KNS job to print a newspaper
If anything, the spoon-fed narrative is to pretend everything is fine and that the national media is wrong about this. All the orange glasses wearers think it’s no big deal - people without a bias think it makes him look bad. I tend to agree.then you're just buying the spoonfed narratives being given to you w/out any thought or consequence....
it is what it is, and i'm not surprised that folks like you and the media have decided to go this route with it.
it's as predictable as the sun coming up every day.....
it'll get the mouthbreathers in a tissy and give them something else to point at and say "look see...."....
that's about it. get back to me when we have issues like UF had in their off season...where's your crusade to get Mullen fired? wouldn't 'your efforts be better served by getting a guy that's enabling a sexist culture that endorses sexcual assalut of females out of a position of power vs. a guy that doesn't want to deal with a player getting pulled over on a traffic stop because he did something dumb?
hmmmmmm...if you picked up on the hyperbole in alll that, good, that at least means you know what you're doing.........

They could have for sure. I don't think they even charged him with anything. I don't think they charged him with driving on a suspended license. At the very end of the video you can hear the two officers discuss it.anybody think the cops actually did banks a favor.....if you consider EVERYTHING that was seen in the video.....i wonder if there were maybe some other charges that could have been applied, that weren't......................................

So, the same thing that happens in almost all D1 programs. Ever notice how the top programs over the last 10 years all seem to have everything moving in the same direction, including the local media?I've got a good friend that's a KPD officer. He tells me that we only hear a small fraction of "interactions" between the police and football players. There are still a lot of hand holding and babysitting that is done for players. Never hear about it.
Fulmer had a liaison to work with local law enforcement. His name was Sam Brown. It was Kippy Brown's brother. Many things were smoothed over back in the day. Not sure if Sam is still over there or if they have someone else like that or not.
Nothing like writing an article based off of a heavily edited transcript of Pruitt's comments. That tweet from Wolken would be embarrassing if it were from anyone else. But being from him, its par for the course. It is literally comments taken from the beginning, middle, and end of what Pruitt said. It is completely ripped out of context to intentionally make it look like he is mad about Banks being arrested. He isn't. Again, anyone who listened to the entire conversation knows this isn't the truth. But hey, keep using those clickbait headlines and Kingston takes I guess.^^^Trash article IMO, but by all means, keep clicking away and feeding these idiots trashing the program for a quick payday
