Pruitt was a terrible hire we had 3 other better qualified coaches that wanted the job but Fulmer had to hire this bum cause god forbid a better coach outdo Phil. Pruitt will he gone hopefully by the end of 2020 along with Foolmer. Pruitt will not field one winning team in 3 seasons either my prediction.

Serious question... you really, truly, honestly think this is why Fulmer hired Pruitt? Dead serious?

We shouldn’t recruit jr college guys
We haven’t had a complete class work out in years

Leach, Brohm, Tucker, even Schiano would’ve all been better hires.

Brohm is the only legitimate argument and even then you can’t say it would be any better

Leach is 10 over .500 at a school with no expectations. The pressure and stress would have been much higher here and his record would be worse. He’s never been known for Defense other than 1 year. His offense works great when teams don’t play defense but when they do it wouldn’t get going fast enough and we’d never catch up.

Schiano said Knoxville is to hostile to work in and he quit a week after he was hired in NE. So you really want to dump money into someone who’s
a wildcard at best? The only track record he’s got is Rutgers. No thank you.

The thing I find most interesting about this is every year the media and pundits make their preseason predictions and it’s the same story.

They just hate Tennessee and couldn’t name 10 players on the roster. They are just going by last year. Etc, etc, etc.

How the heck did anyone not know this stuff before the year that people are just noticing this now? I mean to the point where you’re penciling in wins like it was a given

And secondly, that still doesn’t excuse not knowing where to line up and the level of play they have shown this season. It explains why they are not SEC title material. It doesn’t explain why guys don’t know what they are doing
The over-under for wins from everyone outside Knoxville for this team was 6.5 or 7.

As you obviously know, the expectations here are higher than they are for non-fans.

Only now do people want to play pretend like they knew all along 3 wins was the ceiling.

I get it. It's not like we haven't seen it before. The mentally weak have to believe in the coach right up until he's about to be fired because, as Beldar puts it, they can't stand to watch the program "Run 100 mph in the wrong direction".

Mentally weak...

How confident are we in the accuracy of this list? Didn't look it over entirely, but at first glance I see Aubrey Solomon labeled as junior college. First of all, why color junior college players in the first place? But I really didn't think Aubrey went to a junior college between Michigan and here.

And quit acting like Pruitt walked into anything other than a dumpster fire

In isolation, it’s pretty meaningless. All it shows is that classes degrade over time with players that didn’t make it transferring or retiring. You could put together a similarly depressing-looking spreadsheet for Clemson, Bama, and Georgia. The difference is that those teams win. Also, Gibbs and Solomon are not JUCO guys.

So, this explains why we're always the youngest team in football. However, kudo's may initially being in order for minimal defections from Pruitt's classes. That's a good sign.

Just my opinion, but you can be a very average coach and do pretty well if you can figure out how to have an OLD team...like MZ has apparently figured out. They sign 2-3 star guys, but they stay in the program, play for four years, and by the time they're juniors and seniors, they may not be Bama/UGA/LSU type players, but they're better than five star Frosh starting across the line from them.

Exactly.

Before the season nobody was talking about how bad Pruitt had it. It was almost a given around here that we were going bowling and that we would show great improvement. If you suggested otherwise you were shouted down and called a "NegaVol". Then suddenly after 2 games it's "What did you expect, Pruitt inherited a dumpster fire!!!!!"
