Boy, that defense in year one sure was stellar. Trotting out Daniel Hood, Jacques Smith, Dontavis Sapp, Brent Brewer, Jaron Toney, Sutton as a freshman, Brian Randolph, and Ladarell McNiel as starters. Max Arnold was a backup safety. That roster was awful.

Year one was probably Butch’s best coaching job. Was an overturned review from beating a 9-4 Vandy team and making a bowl. Lost to UGA in OT on an effort play.
That overturned call still chaps my arse. There was no clear video evidence that he made the line to gain. It looked like a terrible spot to begin with, but since there was no evidence, it should not have been overturned.

Had this discussion with my brother after it happened. Exactly our analysis. No evidence to overturn it, but the SEC made sure to screw UT and change the rules for that one review.

They had 5 losses and finished 5th in a 7 team division, but okay, if we've sunk that low.

Because they lost to us...if they win, at home, as 14 pt favorites, they finish 3rd in the toughest division in cfb lol. Also had a ridiculous schedule with non-division #4 uga and #6 washington (win).

we could only hope for a coach as good as Malzahn. Worst mcgill take ever.
And I thought the same thing about Malzahn till my BiLs broke down a lot of stuff..

I don't think he is a bad coach, but he would not live up to your expectations of greatness from him.

Greatness? Hell give me a New years bowl game and I will erect a statue. Only reason barners hate him is because they are little brothers to Saban. Any other state or conference he would heralded by the fan base.

Getting the band back together with fulmer?!?!? 🤞🏾🤞🏾🤞🏾
“According to industry sources, Fulmer wouldn’t hesitate to coach again, as he remains bitter how he lost the gig in 2008. The 69 year-old sees what is happening with UNC’s Mack Brown (68) and Kansas’ Les Miles (65).

“If that job opens its him assuming the chair” a source said. “I don’t see him firing Jeremy and going to the market.” Another source added: “There’s no doubt Coach Fulmer wants to be on the sideline again”
