I got up at 4 am for a gazillion years. It took me about a year to sleep later than that, now I'm at 7:30 and I only get up then because my dog puts his head in my face to see if I'm still alive.

I've always been a night owl. My parents would get up in the middle of the night and I'd be up quietly playing. My working years were pure agony; I just wasn't programmed to be at work by 7 or 8. No amount of coffee could fix it; it's like I'm unaffected by the stuff; I can drink coffee just before I go to bed and still go right to sleep.
