His total plays average 3 yards per play. Any spark is an illusion so far. I have no problem giving him more shots, as he is young and can grow, but people thinking the offense has done any better under him are straight delusional. The facts are to the contrary.Maurer is the only one providing a spark on offense.
Why would he jeopardize that stellar record just to come here? He would have at least 3 losing seasons before he was fired here. Doesn't make sense. If Pruitt doesn't work out then I'm on team go hire Bronco Mendenhall. He never had a losing season in his 11 seasons at BYU and only has 2 losing seasons in his 14 full seasons of coaching and one of those the lost in the bowl game gave him a losing season. He has lead his teams to bowl games in 13 of 14 seasons. He took over a Virginia program who was 26 and 45 in 6 seasons under the previous head coach and 4 and 8 the year before Mendenhall took over. After a 2 and 10 first season, Mendenhall has taken them to back to back bowl games while increasing Virginia's win total each season. Now currently in his 4th season at Virginia he has them 4 and 0 and ranked 18th in the country.
His overall coaching record is 119 and 65.
Pruitts stubbornness is going to get him fired sooner rather than later.
Makes me think about @Atlanta VOL ‘s comment about him being protected. If he knows he is not getting fired or has anything to worry about, then his ego could take over.
In fairness, I think if they had flagged the obvious mugging of Callaway in the endzone, which would have offset the ineligible receiver penalty, I think he'd have gotten a TD on his first (crazy) drive. His total plays average 3 yards per play. Staff seems to see him as their best shot I would suppose. Fans have a hard time believing that, but nothing really shows us otherwise. Sometimes our best is not good enough, but it's still our best.I can see no benefit of keeping JG the starter. The season is shot. What is there to gain from trotting out JG. The team needs a spark.
Bro, it's not learnable from stats (and I like some of your stats) but if you look with your own eyes you'll see DWA open but Tunnel-Vision-QB™ has long ago (sometimes before the snap) locked in on a different receiver. You don't swing pass to TEs typically...DWA simply hasn't been targeted much as far as I can tell. Is that schematic? Him not getting separation? Idk
Maurer hasn't done this yet...
