Y'all are going to think I'm crazy but hear me out.

So first things first. We very likely are going to have to wait a few more years til we fire Pruitt. He is in over his head and will never get it done here.

Our next coach will have to be someone that is an experienced head coach. That's the first requirement.

After 15 years of bad coaches, we will need to make a home run hire. Someone like Urban. But we all know we will not do that.

Therefore, we will be searching for the low-mid tier guys. We will be so hungry for a bowl appearance that we will decide an average guy that we know can win 6-7 games a year will do.

Personally, I think a realistic hire would be someone like Barry Odom. He has improved every year he has been at Missouri. If you look at the recruiting classes they have had over the past several years and then look at all the close games they've been in, it could be argued they are a few talented guys away from being pretty good. He could recruit some of those higher ranked guys at Tennessee. Oh and he knows how to beat Florida.

I have always LOVED Missouri's offense. I think the scheme is a great equalizer when you don't play with a lot of talent. Missouri also often has a very good DL, something we haven't had in several years.

Let's be real. We won't hire the big names we really want. So I believe pairing that offense, that coach, and a proven DC can be good enough to be our next move.

Barry Odom?

The fact is we haven't seen any progress as a team. If we had lost a ton, I would understand. But this was the perfect storm of going from year 1 to year 2 with a ton of returning players. Should have seen some progress and yet we are worse as a team. 2018 UT at least beats Ga St. Probably BYU. Only lost to FL due to a huge TO margin. This team got beat in almost every way and was only -1 in TO margin.

The one spot of obvious regression has the biggest impact of any position on any team any where in the game.

We have a starting RB that is averaging 5.5 a carry. He's getting 13 attempts a game.

JG, AT, DT & MC have had less production.

I give you that JG has regressed and he is the main reason we are 1-3.
AT has not played as well as he did early his Freshman year. He gets burned on the double moves way too often. That can be fixed.
D. Taylor has been as good or better than last year IMO. Remember, he disappeared in most games last year and had all his sacks in 3 games. IMO he has been better against the run this year.
M. Calloway has been as good as last year. JG's regression has caused MC's and JP's stats to suffer so far this year.

Most SRs are ready to move on to the next phase of their life. I wasn't insinuating he wasn't bought-in. But he's been injured and I'm sure he'd like to get paid without risking further injury.
yeah just a little misinterpretation on my end! I got ya!

I met one of you lovely people in Florence, AL on Sundee. Didn't catch what your name was on the page.

If you see this, let me know!
This reads like a lost lover PSA. Lollll

But I had a short chat with another Vol on UofA campus yesterday. He was proudly wearing a bright orange power T golf shirt. Said he was wearing to show solidarity in losing with Arkansas fans 😂

There are some here suggesting that Pruitt and staff have caused the roster to "regress". This proves my point that the roster has not regressed.

I think you could very much make the argument that A Taylor, Flowers, and Bryce have all regressed. Bryce only has one showing so far but it was horrible to put it mildly.

As a Bengals fan, dont bet on the Bengals playing on a prime time game against the Steelers. Bengals will get beat down. Mason Rudolph can only thrown short screen passes, but lucky for him the Bengals tackle worst than a highschool team.

I get that - it’s just wishful thinking.

My feeling is people are hanging on to Bailey in this class like they did JJP in 2018.
Cept Bailey’s been committed to for almost a calendar year while JJP wasn’t a possibility until December and an actual commit until the January All American game.

If Pruitt doesn't work out then I'm on team go hire Bronco Mendenhall. He never had a losing season in his 11 seasons at BYU and only has 2 losing seasons in his 14 full seasons of coaching and one of those the lost in the bowl game gave him a losing season. He has lead his teams to bowl games in 13 of 14 seasons. He took over a Virginia program who was 26 and 45 in 6 seasons under the previous head coach and 4 and 8 the year before Mendenhall took over. After a 2 and 10 first season, Mendenhall has taken them to back to back bowl games while increasing Virginia's win total each season. Now currently in his 4th season at Virginia he has them 4 and 0 and ranked 18th in the country.

His overall coaching record is 119 and 65.

What I mean is that people are linking their hopes for the coaching staff - and this class as a whole - to one player.

1) we’ll see if HB stays committed through this
2) while I’m confident he’s a good prospect, he is not a sure thing like everyone wants to think he is. See: Guarantano, Jarrett

I like the college picks. Don't know enough about the others to say.

A good to great quarterback elevates the program. Can’t argue the same for a linebacker. And you diminish the fanbase on this board with that post imo. We’re smarter than that...we just want a hopeful focal point.
