Recruiting Forum Football Talk II

True freshmen QB's, who are starting and are successful, probably have a very strong group of guys playing around them. We don't have that here.

And anyone that saw 18 play last week knows that 7 or 8 of his 11 passes touched a florida Gators defenders hands. I thought he was just plain awful

Pretty nuts how Helton was able to make JG seem like even an average QB last year and with Chaney he has regressed into a baby goldfish throwing the football.
I don't think JG is smart enough to learn and process and internalize a 3rd offense in 3 years that quickly. Not an issue of who is a better OC, just a lot for a kid who may not be very smart to handle.

On my way home yesterday, the Avett Brother's song "When I Drink" came on. I listened to the lyrics to see if they made sense if the song was called "When we (UT Football) Stink". Pretty damn dead on:

When we stink
I say things I don't want to say
I do things I don't wanna do
I talk mean to you
But if I think
I just might get something out of this
My parents taught me to learn when I miss
Just do your best
Just do your best
It's the only way to keep that last bit of sanity
Maybe I don't have to be good but I can try to be
At least a little better than I've been so far

'Cause when we stink
I hear things that aren't really there
I feel things when I shouldn't really care
Have fist fights with the air
But if I think about someone besides myself
I lived through the silver and the bell
With something to tell
Just do your best
It's the only way to keep that last bit of sanity
Maybe I don't have to be good but I can try to be
At least a little better than I've been so far

But when we stink
I spend the next morning in a haze
But we only get so many days
Now I have one less
Just do your best
It's the only way to keep that last bit of sanity
Maybe I don't have to be good but I can try to be
At least a little better than I've been so far
Oh, at least a little better than I've been so far

Never really know what you are getting from a recruit coming in, especially at the QB position. It is very, very, very rare that a Freshman QB can come in and be prepared to start. I am afraid that many people are going to be very disappointed that he doesnt set the world on fire when he gets here.

Doesn't have to set world on fire. Just start by hitting wide open WR's and TE's. That would amaze most of us since we aren't use to seeing that.
