Yeah I think Hill gets on scholarship...not sure if he'll have to count against 2020 though. I don't know how that all works, thought you could just "give" scholarships to players who walk on and it only count against the 85 but not against a class...but could be wrong.

Every mod everywhere has said 25. And Price backtracked on the Tanner thing. If that was even legit, it would have been used up last cycle anyway. Since we had to blueshirt last year, that means we already had to push guys forward.

Never heard an answer on Mcbride. It is whether or not he "participated in athletic activities". Wouldn't allow us over 25 anyway. Only hit 25 without a blueshirt finally.

Yeah, Tanner I didn't expect we'd get back. McBride is the wildcard, nothing I ever read said he was cleared to participate.

Biggest thing is of the 2 classes (22 & 24) we've had 7 JuCos and no big returns yet. 2 transfers (one won't play until next year) and then we've lost 2 (so far) to medical retirement. 11 misses potentially in your first 2 classes is hard to bounce back from quickly with the 25 limit and trying to flip a roster.

I feel the same way except I'm thinking more along the lines of 5 to 7 years. There's so much stench and dysfunction inside UT, I feel like you have to let the coach graduate his own players and begin the next cycle. Could just be the apathy talking

Think about this. 25 guys four straight classes gives you 100 or rather only 15 available non qualifiers/transfers/misses to be rolling with 85 full scholarship players.

Let’s say we’re at 80 right now and 10 enter the transfer portal or medically quit. Coupled with seniors graduating (I’m not looking up the actual number) then let’s say your down to 60 with 10 more seniors added to the list. You would have to hit on all 25 freshman coming in to really start to build some quality depth.

It’s going to take some time to crawl out of this

Idk we all are basing our opinion off CBJ, but remember he was an outliar. He basically made blueshirting and greenshirting a thing. Many other places have rebuilt while playing within normal guidelines. We can too.

It just feels this way because we are so bad right now. But we were better last year, in year 1. We were 2nd nationally in returning starters, guys. This isn't because of some rule that most schools already abided by anyway. It's because of us. We took a boatload of returning players and have made them worse as a team. That's on us.

The only time I am hard on a kid as a coach is for lack of effort. You give your best then that is all you can do. If you do your best and it isn’t good enough then that’s on me for not coaching you well enough or making the mistake of recruiting you for my team in the first place.

We need some new accountants. Half our oline medically redshirts and we dont sign 25 players the last two classes and we can still only sign 25 players. Then you look and schools like Clemenson and Bama still find ways to pull 29 and 27 people classes last cycle.

This is my take on training grad students and hustling to get them jobs. I can't train someone who isn't trying hard.

We have this reputation at UT of being dysfunctional in the way we manage our affairs. I know our fans had a revolt over a certain candidate for the HC position last go round but we had this reputation long before that happened. The administration and the power boosters are I think where the finger is normally pointed.

Derek Dooley has intimated in the past that he had no choice in the hiring of Sal Sunseri as his defensive coordinator in 2012. I understand that unless you’re the Pirate as a football coach you can’t just come straight out and throw your “employer” under the bus. I have in the past took Dooley’s comments to imply that Sunseri was forced on him by Dave Hart. I’m beginning to think that is not the top of the food chain. Dave Hart may not have had a choice either. (By the way, Dooley’s comments were made in a live stream broadcast he made years after the fact. The host of the broadcast was Clay Travis and I know many here see Clay as somewhat like the Charlie Frost character in the movie 2012).

So now I’m hearing that Jeremy Pruitt was not necessarily Fulmer’s choice to be our HFC this time around. Some people are saying Pruitt was Charlie Anderson’s choice. We are told now by anonymous insiders that Pruitt is “Protected”. Are Fulmer’s hands tied?

Maybe you could work on an organizational chart and list all the players and teams in our drama. Could be better than trying to figure out the show Lost.

I bet we sign 25 and blue shirt at least three. They will find ways to flip this roster ASAP. If I’m Pruitt, I am looking for a GT QB to go along with Bailey because we may be down to just Hill and Maurer by next spring.

They had room to backcount. Clemson only took 17 the year before. Bama 22.

We don't have to blueshirt that many this time. We can't blueshirt more than 1 I believe (the numer we did last year). And it can't get you over 25 regardless.
