The original school is on the line for the education they provided while he was there. They signed up for that when they ask him in this case to play football there and he accepted. They are also required to keep him in good academic standing while hes there.

If the player chooses to leave to finish his career and education elsewhere the remaining portion of his education is picked up by his new school. And that school is now responsible for his academic standing going forward.

The receiving school doesnt need to compensate the original nor the original finish paying for his education since he left.

Everyone has choices, decisions, benefits and responsibilities.

Ok I agree with that but the part you are missing is who should pay for the education after the kid quits playing football for the school?

Remember that kid has to finish and graduate to be eligible. So that means who pays for the spring and sometimes the following summer to finish the degree?

I'm not missing it.
If he leaves your school for another your no longer responsible for him being eligible or to graduate. That's on the school that chose to take him as a transfer. Let the responsibility transfer with him.

I agree that’s the way it should be but that’s what is wrong with the system.

The school being left would then get hit with an APR deduction, also their graduate rate gets hurt AND the kid would no longer be eligible to play at the new school. So in this case both the school and player gets hurt.

It’s just a no win situation

With the disappointing performances so far this season, it got me thinking what's the biggest UT upset of a highly ranked team you've seen or remember? I'm not talking Florida in 2001, when both teams were in the top 5 and there was a crazy spread on the game.

I'm not old enough to know about UT being Notre Dame is the late 70s. And I know that Auburn was #1 when UT beat them, but wasn't that the team that went and beat Miami in the Sugar Bowl?

So, what's the biggest UT upset win you've ever seen or ever?

You’re trying to parse their scholarship. It’s already paid for. They don’t finance it by semester.
