I’ve change over the years and I am now for a one time transfer rule as well.

I disagree with you in the case of the a junior or senior that is on track to graduate and hasn’t used their RS. Those players do have all the power and can leave if they choose after 4 games and there is nothing that school can do. In fact that school is stuck having to pay for the rest of their degree because of apr and graduation rates.

If they re on track to graduate and thus in good academic standing, that's an easy fix that can be made. They shouldnt be a hit to the school their leaving and where ever they land should be responsible for what's left of their education financially. It doesnt have to be a reverse buyout idea.

The issue is they have to graduate from the school they are leaving to make it work. That leaves the school having to pay for spring and even summer semesters to make it work

I feel bad for JG.

A month ago, he had NFL dreams for next season and his whole world has crumbled beneath him. That’s a tough pill to swallow
We are Tennessee so he'll probably transfer, ball out, be a 2nd or 3rd round pick to the Chargers and start week 3 when Rivers gets injured.

I believe JG has the intangibles to be a good QB but his problem is mental. Just so dumb with his decisions.
He is not changing and is costing us games. I don’t not think he can be fixed. Especially not now. He had all off season to get better and he regressed. We need to play Maurer and build for the future. He will get better as the season goes on with experience. The team needs a jolt of energy and JG has none.

What do you mean it had nothing to do with the rule?

If that rule wasn’t in place he finishes the year there and that’s clear

It had everything to do with that rule
He doesn’t have a future and you and the NCAA celebrate by going skinny dipping.

lol

It's not an issue if you fix it. It's not hard.

I'm fine with them being allowed to move on regardless. The receiving school should be on the hook after that.

I like freedom, and you being accountable if you make a bad decision with it. You cant protect them forever.

It boils down if you believe all the power belongs to a player to be able to essentially cancel a year and make a transfer for Quitting on his team 1/3 of the way thru a year.

My stance is once a year is started it should be finished. That’s the way I was raised and the way I raise my kids.

I don’t believe both parties benefit from this at all. In fact I think many kids after game 4 have a serious conversation with folks maybe even handlers where tampering is a real problem. I think such talks erode the team atmosphere for many programs and that’s unfortunate.

My solution is the four game rule should only apply to players that are injured Or underclassmen. If a player wants to use a redshirt as a junior or senior they shouldn’t be able to play in any game like it used to be. Tweaking the rule in that way makes a lot of sense to me but quitting something you start is never appropriate in my book.
lol Your books are creepy.

How do you fix it again?

Make the school they transfer to pay the school being left ?

Bruin loses focus on what the student athlete concept should be about. They should be rewarded for graduating...not punished because football. Schools already have the money pocketed that he’s bemoaning. It’s a huge business but you can’t have it both ways.

The original school is on the line for the education they provided while he was there. They signed up for that when they ask him in this case to play football there and he accepted. They are also required to keep him in good academic standing while hes there.

If the player chooses to leave to finish his career and education elsewhere the remaining portion of his education is picked up by his new school. And that school is now responsible for his academic standing going forward.

The receiving school doesnt need to compensate the original nor the original finish paying for his education since he left.

Everyone has choices, decisions, benefits and responsibilities.
