It gets the immediate “oh no, it’s the dreaded vote of confidence” reaction, and paints you into a corner. It doesn’t do anything to quell rumors.

I would suggest that you start mentally preparing for it. There is a very strong likelihood, given the data that we've received so far, that they are going to boat race us. I know it was more of a shootout with them and LSU, but they scored 38 points. I'm not trying to be negative, I do realize that there's a chance we'll be better by then, and I sure as hell hope I'm wrong.

I think this is a good take. Seems like everyone is still behind Pruitt and is trying to help him course-correct, but there’s some concern he can’t rise to the occasion. Gotta have a contingency plan to prevent another Dooley hire, but the best card to play is unify and give Pruitt 100% as long as he’s the guy.

My last comment on the matter, and feel free to ignore:

Recruits are watching how the fanbase handles the adversity of the next month. And by recruits, I mean some that we really, really want and will be on campus in the coming weeks. They feel that they will be the difference next year and are excited to get on campus and kickstart the rebuild. But they wonder about playing in a toxic environment where fans are against them. And they wonder about committing to coaches who've told them they would be here, but are getting trashed by fans. They wonder what kind of family UT really is. Relationships and support: they matter.

I dont think you're wrong at all. But theres one thing you didnt mention. The media needs to quit trashing its own school as well

Yeah, I'll be honest I don't think Peyton is too "involved" with the program internally.

He shows up for games, and is a great VFL ambassador. Donates to the university etc. and I'm sure if he's asked his opinion he gives it. But I think his general stance is "whoever the AD and university selects is who I'm supporting"
