I'm not sure where I land on this. I think there is merit to the belief that things get better if you hire the right coach. But, the hard cap on the 25/class limit makes things more difficult now. Saban signed 32, 30, 28 and 26 in his first three full classes. So, going in to year 3, he was able to clean house of 12 extra guys and bring in players he wanted. Makes a difference in how quickly things can get turned around.

I think there’s now an observable correlation between the 25/class cap and the overall top-heaviness of college football.

Do transfer portal players count towards the 25 cap? I saw where Sonny Dykes at SMU brought in 16 transfers this year, and that has obviously helped them out (they just beat TCU for the first time in a long time, and are 4-0 for the first time since the mid 80s).

yes.

The only way out of this mess quickly is a time machine. Joke, no joke.

Racheting up the misery just makes it worse. The more radioactive UT becomes, the less good people will want to be part of it-- at any level.

What’s worse: misery or apathy? I think those are your only two options right now.

I appreciate your contribution here lately, LA. Your insight has been valuable and meaningful, to me at least. Keeping me away from the ledge! 🍊

I actually agree here. All UT fans can do at this point is show why we are the best in the country.
