Not now. And he really shouldnt. He has built a solid program at a basketball school and hes in the twilight years of a really good run.

I could have believed it pre Jones with everything lined up.
It’s very likely wishful thinking. Just think Cut is exactly what this program needs right now.

I know he recommended we hire Doeren last time, and I wonder if that’s after he turned the job done or if we didn’t even ask him.

Been trying to tell you this. Parents of older guys think Pruitt doesn’t care about them or their kids and they hate him. He has for the most part ignored them. This is what he gets. Time will tell if he’s right and builds this thing but he really cares about HIS recruits. Also, some of the parents are even life long Tennessee fans. I was hoping it was just a few sour grapes but it’s obvious it is not. He needs to play his guys which for the most part he is BUT not enough of them at this point to field a team. I have settled down some and realize he needs to make it and if he does, it’s going to have to be thru recruiting prowess. Hope he can get em to come play here. If they come, they will play.
Why do coaches do this to “the other coach’s recruits”? Why can’t you just be kind and treat them equally and with respect. They are young men. They didn’t choose who their coach is. Grow up and be a man! My word!!!

Crazy talk. When you have a 4th year guy who’s supposed to be the man you don’t spend endless amounts of time trying to force a freshman to be ready to take over other than in mop up and emergency situations.

If we were sitting at 3-1 4-0 because we had a competent QB, we wouldn’t be having this conversation.
There are plenty of true freshmen QBs playing who are playing well. The coaches should have had the QBs ready as injuries can happen at any time. UF had a two star QB with zero offers carve us up.

Probably the inexperience of a first time head coach.

Funny how things have changed. I remember around that time both Clemson and Washington were trying to get a commitment from Kiffin. He had his pick of those three programs and when we got him it felt like a heist.
It was one of the rare times we identified a coach and got him.

And more than likely knew before MH had dropped the news

Since, it's been handled more like a Hollywood divorce

Big fan of Cut and think he could have done well here. Especially given hindsight. It would have made a lot more since after Kiffin or Dooley for me than now.

Pruitt may not last another year but whoever (if it happens) fixes this is gonna require time.

Yes there are plenty of true freshman QBs playing. We don’t have one that is as talented as them and they aren’t ready. We have a 4th year QB that a lot of people around here (not me) expected to go pro after this season. The coaches thought JG was going to be serviceable enough to make it through this season and make us competitive. He’s just not good, simple. I mean seriously, your grasping at straws with all the examples you keep trying to use. This really isn’t that hard to grasp.

How many would take Cutcliffe now on a 5 year no fire, no extension contract to stabilize and build this thing before turning it over?

Most people predicted that we would go 7 and 5 this year before the season started. If that still happened meaning we go 6 and 0 against the teams that aren't Georgia and Alabama, would you be satisfied? and would it make you excited for year 3? Or would you still be ready to move on from Pruitt? Please give yes or no answers and not well that's not happening so it doesn't matter.
Yes

We knew Pruitt would require time and we are all (rightly) losing our minds 2nd season. At what point do we settle on a dude and let him work?

Nope

Now, imo.

Staples is closer to the truth, but even "recruit our way out of the problem" sounds a little vacuuous right now when 1) we seem unable to develop any level of recruited talent and 2) recruiting is going to be significantly harder with this season.

Buut as much as it sucks there is simply no better solution outside of our pipe dream where Urban is on the backline ready to sign on for the toughest job of his life. Smh
The only thing I'd say about #1 is I really would like to see what this crop of freshmen looks like next year, year after.

Otherwise, can't really argue one way or the other.

Early returns not good.

And I can't see any scenario where we hire Urban Meyer.

alabama is starting 4 on defense
auburn starting fresh qb and owen pappoe
sc starting fresh qb, and jamie robinson at db
lsu starting derek stingley at cb
miss st starting fabian levett at dt
texas am fresh og kenyon green,

should i keep going?
We’re starting 5 freshmen, 8 Fr/Soph (6 coming on defense just Wanya and Darnell on offense) and have about 18 Freshmen and Sophomores in the 2 deep. We are playing youth. Way more youth than anyone else and way more than any coach would want.
