We are a 7-8 win team with Bailey at QB....even as a freshman. Pass protection is fine. Our rebuild is delayed a year while we wait for him but we would be stupid to abandon ship now.

Sign him anda few quality WR, OL, DL and another ready to play LB and this thing turns around quick.

The defense struggling is concerning. But keep Bailey in the fold and im willing to give Pruitt another year if not two. Chaney isn't a dumbass he has worked wonders with many quarterbacks, if he can't fix JG I dont think anyone can. Gray is going to be a stud when he gets another year or two in the weight room. Palmer looks to be solid. Hopefully Keyton and one or two other guys can step up next year. The o line has improved, hell ive seen them get push a couple of times when in the past it seems like they were getting blown back every play.

I agree which is why I'm not as quick to jump on firing automatically. Some good posters here making good points about red flags.
The problem is no one here has given me a legitimate reason why it'll be different this time.

That's my fear as well. LA seems to have more confidence that the people behind the scenes are much more capable right now than during past hires. That gives me hope and if they feel Pruitt is the best shot then I'm with them.

Anybody that can't see that this is a player problem is blind. All you have to do is watch the younger players to see that the coaching is there. The play calling is limited by the ability of the players but I seldom see the wrong calls made. Game management is also fine.

The younger guys will make mistakes as they learn. They will get beat at times but you rarely see them make bonehead plays like a lot of our upperclassmen.

There is only so much you can do with a lack of speed, lack of depth, lack of football intelligence, will and discipline in older players....a QB who has no downfield vision or touch or pocket presence and a safety who can't diagnose plays.

I won't judge Pruitt harshly until this roster is flipped. If recruiting rules still allowed teams to sign 30-35 players this rebuild would have been much faster.

Not getting older players to buy in is a knock against this staff but how many of them could start for other SEC teams. Young guys playing well tells me that coaching and evaluation is fine.

Nope. Players not being aligned probably and us have zero QBs who can run an offense is all on coaching. Pruitt has no feel for a game. Take yesterday for example, we are about to punt in the first half and JJ is behind the long snapper. Mullen sees it and calls timeout because a fake was coming. He obviously has studied us well and knew he shouldn’t be in there. When does Pruitt ever call a timeout when we are way out of position? When Have we ever come out in a second half and looked like we made adjustments? We are down 24 points and our offense has stalled. Blitz everyone and pray for a turnover because you have to get a stop. But we kept playing zone and they moved down the field and killed clock. Why does it matter if they score another touchdown? We needed points and turnovers or a quick stop. We have major coaching issues but everyone wants to blame it on the players. It is year two. We should be competitive with teams. It isn’t too much to ask for a bowl game and beating GSU.

Pruitt called like 5 timeouts in the BYU game because guys weren't lined up correctly

Hell if we want to talk about development. Banks was a 4th string running back last year and now he is in the two deep at linebacker.

@LA Vol is one of my favorite posters. He gives a unique perspective that many of us never get the opportunity to view. I think if I had to summarize his thoughts though would be JG = No chance, BM or Shrout = hope. Correct me if I'm wrong, LA.

Aside from Warrior and not being able to get any QB pressure from the DL I think the defense is fine.

Have any of our DL gotten a sack or even pressured the QB this year? I only can think of CBs and LBs getting pressure off the blitz. Our run D isn't bad until late in the game when they are gassed.

For me and maybe I’m off here, but in the grand scheme of things. If by some miracle the 2020 class stays intact and we add the kids like Hardy, Baron and few other core kids. Then that tells me that the young guys still believe in Pruitt and will give me some a reason to exhale.

If it falls completely apart, it’s over.

From what ive seen I think you're right. I would still like to know LA's connection though even though I know he can't say. He's one of those guys that I would love to sit down have a few cold ones with and just let him tell me what he knows about the program

Coaches can't make the plays for them. They can't go out on the field and line them up either. If we used a timeout every our guys didn't line themselves up correctly we would run out in the first few minutes of play.

I saw fewer issues with lining up yesterday.

That's what I'm watching this year. Seasons already a failure. Need to see more young guys, need to see the others take steps. Probably won't see it against Bama or GA but if we're not competetive in the other games, that will be a red flag too. If we get blown out at home against Vandy, oh my.

Shrout gets the ball out quicker and sees the field better, too. So we have two backup options. Throwing them into the fire against UGA or Bama is a tough situation. Pruitt seems willing to ride with JG. Chaney either agrees or needs to advocate. Playcalling for a QB he doesn't trust to throw is going to be hard to watch.

I think Maurer is the best alternative, because of his legs, but like I said, all quarterbacks who are on an inferior team have to deal with this. and our line is holding better. We haven't played Georgia or Bama and maybe JG is better when the line doesn't hold. They probably won't do that as well against them as the BYU, Georgia State and over rated Florida teams. So, there is that. There is also a Miss St. game in between those that we have a better chance of winning, if miniscule. It is a hard choice. Any coach with a heart would feel bad throwing JG to the wolves, and then letting the young guys play against the ones we could possibly win.
