Bass is the best fan in all of sports. If I’m ever a coach I hope he’s responsible for my future. He sees the positives in every terrible situation.
There is no positives. But I bet everyone here agrees that with a competent QB we are 3-1. Hard to blame that on the coaches

Anyone inside know why we didn’t pick Mel Tucker?

Just curious he had NFL experience & even HC experience as an interim.

I asked this last week given his record for a “first year” head coach and everyone said we made the right pick with Pruitt 👀😂😂

Pruitt still doesn't get it. Oh well.
Trey Wallace is a tool. @ me trey.

Here’s the full paragraph

ON SWITCHING QUARTERBACKS IN THE SECOND HALF
“It’s the thing about playing quarterback, right? I think Jarrett has lots of ability to be a really good player. And I’ve said that over and over. But there are times where you kind of have to take the bull by the horns and say let’s go. Got to make some plays. You have to have an impact on the people around you. And that’s one of the things I’ve been talking to him about. You’ve been around those folks, whether it’s playing sports or in a room, whatever. Somebody has positive vibes that makes you feel good, gets excited about where you’re at and what you’re doing. We need a little bit of that. We made a few mistakes there (at quarterback), so we went with Brian (Maurer). And to get Jarrett settled down a little bit. Brian came in and did a couple things. He had a really good drive right down the field. Right there at the end he threw a ball into triple coverage. If he throws it on the other side, it’s probably a walk-in touchdown. So there are plays out there like that, that we left out there a little bit today and have in the past, which has hurt our production offensively.”

Context matters. TKS.

ON IF THE QB COMPETITION IS OPEN HEADING INTO THE BYE WEEK
“Well, every position for us, we try to play the best players. The only way you can kind of run a program, it’s a production-based industry. So who competes the best at practice, who plays the best the last game, you just kind of work on it and see. I felt like last year in our bye week, we really improved as a football team. And we got so many young guys that are itching to play, but they’re not hardly ready. Maybe in the next two weeks we can get some of these guys (on the field). And it will help us develop some depth and competition a little bit. Then we have some other guys that are a little bit older that, they need to mature and learn to play a little bit too.”

It is when two of them are QBs you recruited and they all look like they should be playing at UMass. And our DB expert coach had our DBs playing so well today (complete sarcasm) and gave up a 66 yard bomb to BYU to lose. I know we want to look for positives and hope that Pruitt is the guy but it is extremely obvious he is in over his head. UF treated us like a scrimmage and I view our program on the same level as UF. We are no where near them.

We are a QB away. Even with the poor DL our defense kept us in this game. With a QB we are competitive. But we don't have one.
I definitely feel coaching has been killing us in some form or fashion, but i’m at a loss as to who’s most at fault. The one undeniable fact is we are sh!t at the QB position and it’s dragging the entire team down.

Bottom line is that there is no point in having good skill players if your QB can't get the ball to them. Maurer was way better than JG when he was out there. The team looked better. He wasn't scared to throw and he could actually maneuver in the pocket and escape when it started to collapse. JG is and always will be hot garbage.

Sounds a lot like butch and playing practice players.

You’d think with so many experienced coaches, something would click somewhere. Even if Pruitt is lost, surely the group could pull it together. It’s an amazing failure of a staff

This is what I don't understand and is very confusing to me. Its not like this staff hasn't won wherever they have been but in year two I see no change from Butch to CP. I am watching the same things that got Butch fired. I know we are young but it isn't all the young players its mostly the upperclassman. Just no improvement at all.

Maurer was garbage too. He had a couple of good passes but was horrid with everything else.

But with this staff, we probably saw peak Maurer today.

A lot of other teams are winning-- and winning big-- with grad transfer QBs... FR QBs... 3rd string QBs. While we sit here trying to hammer that same square peg into a round hole.

At some point, you have to say "Next!" (That point was a while back.)
It is frustrating to see what's going on elsewhere and we can't do diddlypoo.
