Pruitt wouldnt survive a 1-7 record.

You have a point, but if you go back and read the assessment of our teams under boy butch ( by a large number of self proclaimed experts) on this board and others, you'll see a large number felt boy butch was a super-duper recruiter, yes sir, heard it often, usually right after they said, "He has us moving the right direction...." or "He inherited a dumpster fire, he's rebuilding brick by brick" and the crap went on and on. Yet, in his fifth year, we all know what happened. Evidently we were not moving in the right direction, he wasn't The living end when it came to recruiting etc. So, I guess all the coaches knew JP inherited a mess, but large number of Vol Fans were fooled year after year, into believing "we were moving in the right direction"!!! How do all the other coaches feel about CP's work?
The only expert here is Freak 👍😁

Pruitt's buyout after this year is $9+M. And this doesn't include the high priced asst coaches. No way they pony up that kind of money and I don't see Fulmer supporting it either. Pruitt is his guy and he has given Pruitt a blank check. Not to mention the $ it would take to get Myer or other big name coaches.

Then Purgatory it is

I only know one “connected” person in Knoxville.
He told me that if we lose the next 5, that the money people would pony up the buyout.
We have never started 1-7. That would be too big an embarrassment for our big donors.
Fulmer would be interim and they would go after a “proven power 5 winner”. (I laughed when he said that but he says you don’t know how angry Georgia State made them).

So, can we win one of these next 5:
At Florida
Georgia (after a bye week)
MSU
At Bama
USC

Pruitt has to just win one of those games and then get 2 more out of UAB, UK, MU, Vandy.
But, one of those two wins must be Vandy.
Our donors could, I’m told, live with 4-8 and 2 SEC wins if we don’t finish last in the East and Pruitt can hang onto Bailey and a decent 25-30 ranked recruiting class.

If we can somehow win tomorrow, the only sure losses left are UGA and Bama.
But, if we get our clocks cleaned by UF, we may just fall apart.

*** Many grains of salt needed, of course. This is just one guy. But, he’s not a liar and he’s a wealthy blue blood and travels in circles that I could never get anywhere.near.

DA’s everywhere apparently.

He should be fired at 1-7, he deserved to be fired at 0-1. I do not however believe he will be fired. If nothing else, despite the odd take the coach worshippers take on here, we have a history of keeping coaches extra time when it's blatantly obvious they are not good at their job.
Should be fired after 0-1 lol another DA.

Not once the Florida job opened up. I think if Florida doesn't fire McElwain, there's a pretty good chance Mullen is in Knoxville.

Yes. But also Mullen would be in Knoxville had Currie grown a pair and just made Mullen an offer he couldn’t refuse and an offer where Mullen couldn’t wait out to see what would happen with Florida and Chip Kelly

I know 3
No they won’t

Yea, and to create an atmosphere of stability ( I've heard that before) we should extend his contract (with a large raise) for at least 10 more years......

I’m not speaking to what we should do.
If you cannot tell by now that our university isn’t capable of hiring then you’re beyond help.
This isn’t getting any better with a coaching change. When we do change coaches we will not hire a big name. It will be another project just like the last 3

We don’t even need a big name. We need someone capable, someone that has proven they can run a program and win. We don’t need a flash in the pan or a guy needing OJT.

Well sir, you got me there, instead of the ten year contract extension I've suggested, I guess I should have said 20. I don't want to be beyond help, that's for sure, I hope this clears things up.

You serious man? IMPROVEMENTS? We lost to GA st and BYU at home so please tell me where the "improvements" are.. If you want to relax thats fine but quit acting like people are stupid for wanting to actually see improvement instead of what we are seeing now.
If you didn’t see improvement between the first and second game, then you are stupid.

Tune in tomorrow to see if we continue to improve

“If you lose to Florida your season may just fall apart.” Really? A loss to a highly ranked (honestly way too highly rated) Florida team might cause you season to fall apart?
A loss to Florida no matter how bad won’t be the reason the vols fell apart. I think that was pretty much accomplished week one, when Ga. State skull drug he vols up and down the field. And the loss to the cult put the finishing touches on the “falling apart”.
Frankly, I have been amazed at the folks who after beating Chattanooga (yes I said Chattanooga), believe that the ship has been righted and that “all of your season goals are still on the plate”. Which technically is true, but come on. Really? Good luck with that.
Frankly I am amazed Pruitt wasn’t handed his walking papers after week one. Wait, no I’m not. I still amazed He got the job in the first place (especially with some of the very good proven head coaches who were interested). But, again I think that was a part of Phil’s Master plan to retake his job of as leader of his alma mater.
Honestly I really do hope your season doesn’t fall apart. Good luck:rolleyes:

You keep living in “how things should be” and I’ll stick with “how they are”.
