Movies you've seen recently II

John Wick 3, Miracles From Heaven, IT Chapter TWO, Everything Everything, Draft Day, Dark Phoenix.

That's all I can remember.

Watched the original Get Carter. I enjoyed it. It was a cool story, decent pace, and lots of unintentional comedy (even 48 years ago, Michael Caine running at full-tilt was a funny sight to behold). Some nice 1971 T&A, too.

Just watched Stripes for the first time. I'm guessing this is a sacred cow? It's amusing but a big component of the movie is the use of crazy hijinks (like Candy mud-wrestling) that just don't have the novelty/wildness they probably once held.

Haha, it's hard to find old movies to love now if you've never seen them. I know they did it first but Blue mud wrestling in Old School is just funnier. It's like if you saw MJ's FT line dunk first and then watched Dr. J do it.

Stripes is still fun, don't get me wrong.

I think Stripes would be a lot better if you watched it as a kid in the 80s than now as a jaded adult.

Hell House LLC 3
6/10

The first one was a good, the second went a weird direction, and 3 tried it's best to tie them together. 1>>>>>>>>3>>>>2

It's been forever since I watched this, but from what I remember, I enjoyed the first half and was pretty bored with the second half. It's pretty far down my list of older comedies, it's fun but overrated. IMO

Lots of T&A and a classic 80's comedy trope, spying on women in the showers.

Not good or bad, but the end was weird. I thought the graduation was going to be the climax but then with like 15' left they go to eastern Europe, do an operation, and then come back for a victory parade. Must've been a lot of deleted scenes.

It's funny looking back on older comedies how a lot of stuff wouldn't fly or be funny today. Plus most comedies dont have a lot of rewatch value. IMO But I still prefer them to newer comedies.

At least in this movie the douche is committing the infraction, and not the protagonists thus confusing 12 yo @bignewt about the ethics of peeping.

Game Night would have been a classic if it came out in the 80s. Also, Friday night lights vibe is strong.
