Pruitt has now stated multiple times that JG is the CLEAR starting QB. He also stated that JT and BM both made "horrible decisions" in the limited time they played Saturday.

If you read between the lines just a little bit Pruitt has been telling everyone that our backups suck.

This QB debate is over folks. JG is very bad but is by far the best we have. We just need to catch this season in and get from it what little we can.

My personal feeling is the future of the Vols QB position is not currently on this team.

We know who the starter will be next year. Ride it out and let it flow. Neither of the QBs behind JQ will ever start here.

Much stranger things have happened. Funny you said to ride it out then declared two talented young guys done?

I don't think Bailey should fear any of the 3 regardless of who starts now or for the remainder of the season. That said... Bailey is still being judged by HS performance and on a team that's pretty loaded in comparison to their competition. If I understand correctly, neither Shrout nor Maurer played on very good teams.

I feel like it’s just the opposite. I feel like JTS could be just as good as JG given time and BMs full talent is being hidden. The game plan set forth this past weekend pretty much solidified my opinion by not letting Maurer throw like they did with JTS. If they were both playing with the starters like JG was the final stats look very close. JTS is a bit erratic but there were a couple that more than likely would’ve been caught by JJ,MC or Palmer. Maurers play calling was incredibly suspect. He’s not Lamar Jackson so read option isn’t his style. They could’ve very easily called the same game for each to give us a better feel of what they’ve been saying. But they didn’t. At least not for BM. If they were going to switch offensive styles then why not switch it to something he’s accustomed to like they did in the spring game? It looked to me that they installed an offense that limited his abilities.

Still subtly suggesting that Keyton is tanking for his boy next year by denying your boy in the O&W game and Saturday. When you go tin foil kooky, there’s no half measures with you...I’ll give you that. 😉

I’ve been coaching a long time butchna. I’ve seen peewees make that adjustment from the spring game. As for Saturday, no I’m not suggesting he is tanking. I’m suggesting he may not be living up to his high profile if he can’t make that catch over an fcs cornerback that was about 3 inches shorter. There’s NO denying THAT pass should’ve been caught.

Than ran what they could with his limitations. He had bad throws. They were all under thrown.

Every time you speak you make a complete fool of yourself. Bottom line for you.... you’re not a UT fan. You’re a JG fan. That being said you’ll deny anything that suggest JG isn’t the best. A true fan would be pissed that they didn’t afford BM the same opportunity as the others.

They did. He took off a few time too early. He threw a few worm burners. He has potential and I think he will be better than JT. He isn't anywhere close to JG. Neither is. That is a fact.

First- he didn’t throw a few worm burners. He only threw it twice. One was in the dirt but the other should’ve been caught. They called a grand total of THREE pass plays on the day for BM.
Second- no they did NOT afford him the same opportunity. They ran a read option with BM and a traditional pro style with JG and JTS. You say he took off early a few times yet he only ran it himself 4 times. 🤔
Third- Both backups were put in a disadvantage to begin with by JG being the only qb to be allowed the entire #1 offense.

There’s a reason they are hiding BM. Maybe it’s HB, maybe it’s not but one thing is certain. They are definitely keeping him handcuffed.

I’ve never read where you stifled your need to be right...so get over yourself. Of the two of us I’m not the one that shoehorns every snap into a narrative on THEIR GUY...that’s you bunky. You must be a helluva peewee coach to have never witnessed any WR not haul in a CATCHABLE but difficult pass. I’m not all in on ANY QB including HB and I also don’t rule out any QB based on contrived, phony hot air painted as coaching expertise. A WR not catching or completely stone handing a pass isn’t a failure or reason to rain condescending hell on anybody...whether it be pee wee, high school, college or All-Pro. It’s called how it is!

Have always had differences with K-Town and always will, but he was a FAN on this board way before JG...or you. You have the same dug in, see no wrong mentality towards Maurer. Own it.

Never denied I was in on Maurer. How could I? But when I see them handcuffing the kid while putting out the narrative that he sucks it’s a bit concerning and quite frankly untrue. If we’re talking about his lack of experience then yes I agree.... he’s not ready “right now”. But in terms of talent JG nor HB hold a candle next to him. But you know what.... this is Pruitts team. His evaluation. His price to pay.

JG was out of the game for a long stretch. Backups got playing time. Extent of the science. You’re changing the subject that I was commenting on. Good strategy to utilize when you seldom to never stray from the narrative that your boy isn’t capable of making a not perfect throw. The one to Keyton was CATCHABLE as in possible to catch...it wasn’t right to him. I wanted to see the QB’s get some FIRST TIME action...wasn’t expecting a whole gameplan built around said first time action. Coaching staff got to see and evaluate their composure and skills in real time...which should have been their goal imo. The opportunity to seize the starting job was and is during practice.

He handcuffed himself by not being as developed of a passer.

There isn't a narrative. He isn't as good. Evey single evaluation through their respective careers has said BM is not as good or talented as JG.

Coaches and media who watch them every day and the talent evaluators have all said the same thing.

According to our head coach that pass should never had been thrown into that coverage. Your boy made a bad decision and you are blaming the WR for it, lol. He had 3 pass plays called for him, one was a bad throw, one was the wrong decision as to where he was supposed to throw the ball and the other he tucked and ran. There's probably a reason they have more run packages than pass plays for BM.
