Let's knock off the criticism

I realize that everyone who is a Vols fan is disappointed in the program over the last decade and have BVS, we have been disrespected by the sports media for far too long, and the last coaching search was a debacle, to say the least. We have people posting on here who call the players bad names and talk about how bad they are, wanting a coaching change after the first two games of the season, making disparaging remarks about the coaches. We as fans need to understand what kind of affect we can have on the program, both good and bad. When the players are called something like liquid garbage, like I saw in a post this morning, that is totally uncalled for. Support our guys, make encouraging posts, and let the recruits know we support them and want them instead of making remarks that may change their minds about coming to Tennessee. When a player is singled out and repeatedly criticized, a highly rated recruit who plays that position and is strongly considering Tennessee may chose to go somewhere else, so they don't have to endure that type of ridicule. So what say we knock off the negativism toward the players and coaches and support the team. And yes, I am disappointed in the way the season has gone so far, but I'm not going to be making any of the comments I have seen on here from some posters. Let's get behind the team instead of being so critical all the time. It seems like Fulmer said during the introductory press conference for Pruitt that it would take 4-5 years to get it turned around, yet here we are with people calling for Pruitt's head after fifteen games.
When you go to an expensive restaurant and they bring you cold food that tastes like horse manure, do you thank them and tell them they're doing a great job? Kind of the same concept here - it's not difficult to understand.

If players and coaches have the time to come to VN and read and post and get upset over what fans are saying, they need to get their priorities in order. I have seen some stuff on Snapchat, Instagram, AND Twitter that make VN look like a nursery school. I will never, ever understand the mindset that thinks a message board has THAT much impact on the program. Even CJP told the media that he didn't much care what they thought or said. When the Vols win, it's ok to be happy. When they lose, it's ok to be mad. Just stay within board guidelines and realize that not everyone will agree with or even "like" you. Don't take ANYTHING personally. Just ask a little boy in Florida-he'll tell you Vol fans are the greatest in the world. I apologize if this post sounds preachy, but a lot of people miss the whole point of having a message board in the first place.

Nope, people are supposed to vent on a message board Coach Pruitt:rolleyes:
Agreed.

I dont have a problem with legit criticism. The program has given plenty of opportunities for that over recent years and this year hasn't been any different.

Now if all you do is criticize, even when positive things happen, which contrary to popular belief do happen even with this team and coach, there comes a point where you re not worth the attention or time and effort to discuss.

And then, ladies and gentlemen, it is time to use the ignore button.

It used to be the only way you could get the pulse of a fanbase was to go to a game. Or you may get a very small sample from a call in show.
Now you get instant reactions and over reactions to each play in every game.

Seriously, and this is not just with UT or even sports but social media has made individuals think their opinion matters probably a lot more than they really do.

I see people say things on social media that they wouldnt have to stones to say in public.

I ve been around here too long for that honestly. I know it's probably a good function for some but it seems juvenile to suggest it.

Those that fit that description dont really both me that much because they are easy to understand and identify.

I've been plenty critical over the years but when theres positives it shouldnt hurt fans to see them either.

Exactly! I have never once thought any player, or coach, or other poster cared two cents about what I post. And that's how it should be.

I don't think it's juvenile at all. We live in a society where no one's feelings can ever be hurt. Therefore, we cannot disagree with anything anybody says without being villified. Some people need a safe space. I consider the ignore button to be just that.

Knowing a few players over the years and having a cousin play up there, they have a lot on their plate.

College and football for what it all entails is a full time job and they dont spend hours a week on here like we do. Having said that, even without that spare time they still have a pretty good idea which way the wind is blowing. They are a lot less insulated to the public than coaches are.

This board is pure entertainment for me.

With all due respect.
The woman tells me how to feel and what to do, the preacher tells me how to feel and what to do, the government has now started to tell us how to feel and what to do, please at least let me come to VN and grant me some freedom to feel the way and do what the hell I want to do!
But information on this board is supposed to be more important than the information from the others you mentioned.
