For a pleasant change, there are actually more goods than bads! I watched on TV and let my son/grandson use my tickets.

The good:
A win is a win.
The Banks move to LB seems to be paying dividends.
Having Bituli back was a big plus.
A lot of players got playing time. While it should have happened 2 games ago, it at least happened.
OL/DL continued to show improvement.
Running backs were very solid.
WRs got open and caught the ball.
UT won the turnover battle significantly.
Cimaglia is still on top,

The bad:
A couple of dumb penalties.
Shrout is not ready for prime time (or even Noon)

The ugly:
Chattanooga is on the way to Tuscaloosa but not even half way.
The meat of the schedule is here now.

All in all, an improved effort that took 2 weeks too long to show up. Now the VOLS have to go on the road and show what they are really about. I'm far from excited but at least appeased for the time being.

GO BIG ORANGE!

People will complain about competition, but a win is a win. Confidence was much needed and there was plenty of game experience for most everyone. It's hard to point out the backup QB for me. Shrout was given more of an opportunity to throw. For now he lacks touch. Maurer didn't have as many chances to throw, but I do like his ability to make plays with his legs. He won't be able to take many of those hits in SEC play. And to your point the only downer on the day in my opinion was the amount of stupid irrelevant penalties.

I do like seeing that the D was able to close it out with a goose egg. Even against cupcake teams, we have gotten sloppy in the past and allowed a score. Not this time.

Turnovers were a plus. Yes, it was UTC but good to see that they were making things happen, not just waiting for dropped passes. Special teams are motivated. Good for everyone to actually feel what i feels like to be a winner for a change.

I'm thinking the defense is getting better. The offense is the same not a lot of improvement that I see to match up with SEC teams. Shrout has a strong arm no control if he was a baseball pitcher he would hit two or three batters and walk three or four. Mauer didn't really get to do much he is a running threat still need more information about his passing.

Dude. Having Bituli and Tototo in the middle is scary good. Opposing offenses are literally gonna have to account for those two in their game plans

I thought we played a lot better against BYU,if not for the fluky dumb play.U can see all areas of the team improving and that’s a plus.On the other hand it’s was UTC and this is what ur suppose to do with these teams.Florida will be a big game I don’t expect a win sure he’ll hope we get one.I think JG gonna have play one of his best games, along with the oline and defense will be huge.Anything is possible by my oh my how things would change if we walk outta Florida with a win.I feel the confidence is their we just gotta go make it happen..Go Vols

BYU was no little scrimmage game. They beat number 24 USC in OT today.

USC will likely fire Helton before the season is over, or right after. As we have seen time and time again...year after year...team rankings at this point in the season are nothing more than media fodder. USC is not a top 25 team, or won't be when it's over.

BYU beat a mediocre USC team at home. The week after they beat a mediocre UT team on the road. Two weeks after they lost to a good Utah team at home. BYU is a middle of the pack FBS team, period.

As I've said before, the UF game will tell us a lot about the 2019 Vols. Right now, the forecast is not favorable.

But Go Vols.

Is it good for us to have Florida winning today or have a loss under their belt for next Saturday?
Neither good nor bad. They got whipped except for the final score. If KY had not missed the field goal they would have been ahead with less than a minute left. The only way to get the ball back was to "let" FlorryDUH score to make it a TD/2pt conversion game. Trask is a good QB and probably better than Franks. KY had a solid game plan and if the UT staff learns from it, a W is well within the realm of reality.
