Get Behind JG

Hating it’s starting qb is long, time-honored tradition for Vols fans. Think about it.....I won’t go back as far as Bobby Scott, Dewey Warren, Condredge Holloway, or Jimmy Strearer, because I can’t remember back that far, I was too young, but I’d bet money they got the same treatment.

But Alan Cockrell, Jeff Francis, Randy Sanders, Andy Kelly, Sterling Hinton, Tee Martin, Erik Ainge, Casey Clausen, Jonathan Crompton, Tyler Bray, Justin Worley, Josh Dobbs....and now Jarrett Guarantano. All have been hated on, all have seen Vols fans demand they be benched/transfer, etc, etc. Hell, even Manning was hated on as a freshman, and even today many Vols fans, when discussing his Tennessee career, first thing they’ll bring up is “he never beat Florida”.

Does JG deserve plenty of criticism for his play this year as a 4th year guy at Tennessee, yes. Some of his play has just been indefensible, no doubt. But look at the deranged, irrational crap so many spew, even when he does good things. It’s ridiculous.

Truth is, put Shrout and Maurer and Bailey and whoever else in there at QB in the coming years, they’re all gonna get the ire of the Vols fans who have this irrational obsession with “hating” whoever the present starting QB is at Tennessee.

Left out Brent Schaeffer and Colquitt before he got hurt opening door for Manning.

Nobody is rooting for him to fail you beaver. Most people just have already seen enough of his poor play to know he just doesn't have it and a single game against a UTC doesn't all of a sudden make him a great QB.
Disagree he’s the target of haters

He made some good throws, and I wasn't impressed in the backups, so in the sense, I think he helped his case, but it's Chattanooga, let's see a real team.

He did look pretty good today, but then again it was UTC. He's okay, just not great. Not saying that I want him to fail or hate him...just don't think he's that great. We'll see if you're singing his praises in the upcoming games against far superior talent than a UTC.

Its obvious JG is the leader right now, but it's not due to ability.... it's in game experience. I am hoping he excels, I also hope he sees an open receiver running a slant in time to get the pass off for an easy completion
