Basilio saying Fulmer/Chaney want a new QB

As I said a few day ago, If our backup QB's aren't good enough to play then why do we have them on the roster?...Makes no sense to me why you would recruit these guys and them not be good enough to play for you...They can't be any worse than JG....Practice is one thing but game time is a different animal and one of them might have that IT factor when it comes to playing in the actual games...Heard of many players not being good practice players but light it up when they get to play.

If I were Maurer, I'd transfer now.

He's going to get zero reps in a live game this year, zero chance this year or next to compete for the starting position as long as JG is here, and should we keep Bailey's commitment, then he'll most likely be stuck at a #2 in his junior year.
I wouldn't blame him if he did.

I agree 100% with you...Pretty sad that he is here and they are not going to give him a chance....You watch, He'll go somewhere else and light it up.

You're probably right. It's a shame if that happens. I'd really like to see what the kids got. Ryan Hilinski over at uscjr lighting it up.
For some reason most believe that it's impossible for a freshman QB to be good at Tennessee. It literally happens everywhere else, but some say it can't here. I'm positive it could.

You can't know what you have if you don't bother to find out. The backups absolutely have to have some game time - real game time - not garbage time ... assuming JG ever gets us to garbage time. Unfortunately "garbage time" is more likely defined at this point to be behind by 30 points and fading fast to real SEC competition - and JG is absolutely capable of getting there.

Last year, the backups hardly got any playing time. Which leads to a problem we have now. They have ZERO experience!
Ha cause we were so bad we had to play JG all 4qtrs then too. Shoulda, woulda, coulda. Shoulda scrapped JG then. Woulda started fresh with a newb. Coulda be sittin at 2-0 right now. 🤷 who knows. The situation is crap and it's the coaches fault.

TBH, "garbage time" 110% should have happened against GSU. I'd say there was an 80% chance it should have happened in the BYU game as well. JG kept them in it however (or maybe Chaney who basically refused to throw the ball 1/4 through the 4th). It always seems that Tennessee has a coach afraid of playing to win, they'd rather be conservative and play "not to lose."

Oh I whole-heartedly agree with ya there. I'm not holding my breath that these kids get any meaningful snaps. Irritating as all get out.

Too bad Pruitts kept us from finding out.

There were games where they could have played.

Now I'm depressed after reading all this. Need to get back to the end zone and talk to myself 😆
