On Banks, yes Pruitt is using a little sweetener, but think about it.
For Pruitt to to say such a thing on air, he wants him over there bigly..and for a reason. That's not his normal M.O.
I like that. He needs to gas our guys up especially publicly as much as possible.

Context is important. From Vols Calls excerpts on 24/7:

[Caller]: “...My question is about Jeremy Banks. Is there any chance of moving him back to running back or keep him at inside linebacker?”

Pruitt: “That’s a good question. Jeremy, he really wants to play running back and he moved over there (to linebacker) when Daniel (Bituli) got hurt, because basically we had about three inside linebackers. Unfortunately, Tim Jordan got hurt in the first game, so last week we only dressed two scholarship running backs. In my opinion, I think Jeremy could be a really good player at both positions. Obviously, on the offensive side, he’s got to learn to hold onto the football a little bit. Defensively, I think if he played linebacker full-time, he could be as good as any linebacker I’ve ever coached. That’s a decision that we’ve got to make moving forward.”

Bob Kesling: “Having Bituli back, though, does that make it easier to move Banks over to running back?”

Pruitt: “Well, you just want to figure out what’s best for him in the future. But one thing I’ll never do is get a guy to play a position that he doesn’t want to. He’s playing linebacker for another week, and we’ll see where he goes. He could go over there (to running back) today, he knows the plays on offense.”

I myself think it's not unreasonable to suspect that the remark about linebacker potential was for Banks' ears.
Good Lord find a spot for the kid and leave his ass there no matter what happens.

yeah. , i don't think he makes it w/out there being some semblence of truth to it.

that said, we're thin at LB, even w/Bituli back. Jordan will be back, and we'll go in to games w/3 backs. no need for four.

we need LB's worse than RBs.....right now.

Any interest here with Tee on staff?

USC wideout Williams enters transfer portal

USC wide receiver Devon Williams entered his name in the transfer portal on Wednesday. Williams is a sophomore who was ranked the No. 16 overall prospect in the 2018 class and viewed at the time as a big recruiting win for the Trojans.

If the sophomore receiver does decide to transfer, he will still have three years of eligibility remaining with his redshirt still intact.

If he transfers now, he will still lose this year and have to sit another, correct?
he has a red shirt apparently and hasn't played 4 games, so i don't know if he could use this year as the RS year and be elligible next year or not?

Seems a little strange that he would have to sit 2 full years basically. IMO should have to sit a full year and then be eligible after 2nd week next season. I'm sure that's not how the NCAA works though and can't see a waiver in the cards. Oh well, moving on
