Why would this be at my expense? He's certainly trying to take advantage of a situation.... At the expense of his readers
I hope Banks turns into an All-American level performer.I believe it. He already worked himself up to 2nd team. Banks is sneaky good especially rushing the passer. Once he figures out all the reads and coverages, with his speed and viciousness he could be very elite.
On Vol Calls they had an interview with Eric Gray. He said his mom had him running cone drills when he was 4 years old. Bob asked him when he first put on pads. Eric said 4 years old he played in a Bantam league. The first time he got hit he came running off the field crying and his mom told him he had to get back out there. That led to him developing his spin move and his ability to make guys miss. He said before he got off the bus for the Georgia State game he was full of emotion, almost cried. because all his life he’d dreamed about this moment, being able to play college football, and now it was here.
At the end of Pruitt’s segment on Vol Calls after Bob had already thanked him and was letting him go, Pruitt asked if he could say something and Bob said yes. Pruitt wanted to thank the fans for their performance last week. He said they gave an edge to the team and really impressed the recruits that were in for the game. They got to see firsthand the passion and energy of the Tennessee fans.
Context is important. From Vols Calls excerpts on 24/7:I hope Banks turns into an All-American level performer.
But “best” ever for Pruitt? C’mon. Do we need to name all those elite Bama backers he coached?
Oh he’s trying to be positive for sure.Context is important. From Vols Calls excerpts on 24/7:
[Caller]: “...My question is about Jeremy Banks. Is there any chance of moving him back to running back or keep him at inside linebacker?”
Pruitt: “That’s a good question. Jeremy, he really wants to play running back and he moved over there (to linebacker) when Daniel (Bituli) got hurt, because basically we had about three inside linebackers. Unfortunately, Tim Jordan got hurt in the first game, so last week we only dressed two scholarship running backs. In my opinion, I think Jeremy could be a really good player at both positions. Obviously, on the offensive side, he’s got to learn to hold onto the football a little bit. Defensively, I think if he played linebacker full-time, he could be as good as any linebacker I’ve ever coached. That’s a decision that we’ve got to make moving forward.”
Bob Kesling: “Having Bituli back, though, does that make it easier to move Banks over to running back?”
Pruitt: “Well, you just want to figure out what’s best for him in the future. But one thing I’ll never do is get a guy to play a position that he doesn’t want to. He’s playing linebacker for another week, and we’ll see where he goes. He could go over there (to running back) today, he knows the plays on offense.”

I myself think it's not unreasonable to suspect that the remark about linebacker potential was for Banks' ears.
Sure, but not at all in the sense that he is "blowing smoke." Not his M.O.Oh he’s trying to be positive for sure.
