Know why we have the most insufferable fanbase? Because ppl don't know the difference between optimism vs creating unrealistic expectations. I am definitely an optimist, but here's where the problem occurs...we start the season 0-2; against two mediocre/poor teams. The optimist says, "I saw improvement, I'm hoping that continues and we can maybe win an unexpected game or two". The unrealistic posters say, "guys, I can still see 7-8 wins, Cheney is going to 'fix' JG just like he did Crompton."
The difference is creating hope vs creating an expectation. When your hope for an unexpected win fails, you're disappointed. When your expectation for winning 7-8 games fails, you're depressed, angry, and demand answers (or a firing).
We already know the answer! We're not good. Period. But we are improving. Can't moving in the right direction be enough for one freaking week? Go ahead and post stupidity outrageous goals so you can be outraged when they're not met. I'm choosing hope, and look forward to us improving.

Go Vols

10 - 2 by god!

JG is not the reason we lost to Georgia State nor is he the reason we lost to BYU. He has not been good - I’m not going to argue with you that he has - but the Tennessee Volunteers should be able to run the ball right up the middle 75 times and beat Georgia State. He was bad in the BYU game - but we still win if the defense doesn’t let a pass go over their heads or stops BYU’s offense in either overtime period.

People are blaming the QB because it’s easier than blaming the coaching staff. Period.

I’m with giving another QB a shot. But Tennessee should have won both of those games regardless.
I'd agree that the Ga St game was not just on JG. I'd even go as far to say that the gameplan and prep by the coaches in every aspect was pitiful. And that put this team in a terrible spot to try and win a game over a bad football team that it didnt.

BYU was a very different story. We didnt run it 75 times (might should have tried) but the gameplan was there. Guys blocked well enough. We established the run enough to open up the passing game and make it simple. The WRs were consistently getting separation. Heck even on a terrible throw JJ was able to bail him out to save points. He played poorly in the first half and they were ahead because BYU couldnt catch his poor throws and the defense held them to 3. The game changed when he set up their first and only TD in regulation with a pick.

With decent (not even good) QB play UT wins Saturday by 14 to 17 points.

November Vols should be much much better than September Vols especially on defense.
Agreed.

If they find decent QB play from somebody it will make a huge difference. The OL is getting better. The WRs are open and we have 2 RBs that can make yards.

If the Nov Vols still look like the Sept version Pruitt and Company are in trouble. May not mean termination this year, but its gonna be extremely hard for him to finish this recruiting class.

Was rewatching the BYU game and #64 Wanya Morris reached for #56 Riley Locklear two times to help him up off the ground. Locklear completely ignores him on purpose.

The person who ends up helping Wanya up is #81 Austin Pope. Which tells me the offensive line lacks cohesion.

Nope.

Everyone I was watching the game with laughed and said he was just putting on a show because that is what the fans had complained about the week before
You should stop listening to those friends and start watching the games with new ones.

I like Riley, I think he could be a really good OL. I didn’t notice this Saturday night. I would sit his ass for this crap.
