It’s absolutely easier. It’s much easier to change QB’s than it is to change coaches.Says the guy that just claimed breaking down positions and identifying problems is "easier" than just saying "coach!"
So if our boss gives us a project to do, that is due at the COB. We both have a lot of work to do, but you find a way to finish your part of the project. Unfortunately I don't, but I don't tell you until 4:30. We both get dinged for not finishing the project. Is it your fault or my fault that the project did not get completed?
JG is not carrying his weight. If GSU is the worst team in the country, JG should have been carving that secondary up, but he was not. So is he the worst QB in the country then?
I just don't understand the sympathy.
If you're working for the communications department at UT, and you've seen the sorry state of sports journalism in Knoxville for decades now, I don't blame them one bit for being risk averse in regards to access to the athletic program. You think that all of the sudden they're going to write positive pieces when their pattern of behavior suggests otherwise? How long has Adams been around? I remember being in college and we had a top 10 program and Adams was STILL looking for any excuse to dump on the program. How long has Hyams been the creepy guy two inches from every player and coach in an interview, who then runs and simply regurgitates what we can all watch on youtube now? How long has Rucker been about Rucker? He was writing the same type of stuff that he wrote in the Beacon when we were undergrads complaining about a sport he never played.
I would tell them all to kick rocks, too.
Ubben's edge is that he actually does analysis, I guess. Would I want him out charting reps, touches, who's not present, etc.? Hell f@#$ing no. Clemson and Alabama can get away with that now because they're media darlings and they don't need every edge they can get to kick the crap out of everyone, and frankly the Tuscaloosa media is probably terrified of Saban and his cult of inbreds.
I'll take it one step further, it's not the job of the athletic department to prop up a bloated, entitled Knoxville sports media.
LOL OK, you're right, we were outmatched in talent.
And putting 14 points on JG is a huge exaggeration. Our defense should never ever allow 3 TD drives of 75+ yards to GA St.
JG is not our only problem.
I agree JG is bad. I disagree JG is the only or main reason we lost. Fair point about my exaggeration on how bad GA st is.Why do that? Don't add additional BS to the reply, respond to what I'm saying...
Point is "worst team in the country" is currently tied for first based on their UNDEFEATED record, and is 25th in total offensive scoring. We didn't play the worst team in the country in the opening game, last season is completely irrelevant to this season so stop with that narrative.
Plenty of merit exist in the 3 TD drives of 75 shouldn't happen, no disagreement there. Regardless of how "young" the team is you'd think the staff & players would be better prepared. Their performance against Georgia State is inexcusable, I don't think JG lost us that game don't put very much blame on him. It's also laughable someone dismisses the fact that our 3 YEAR STARTER QB, can't make simple reads or work progressions against GEORGIA FREAKING STATE. Both of the turnovers he was credited to happened in the 4th quarter as well, it's as inexcusable as the defense & staff not being prepared for Georgia State.
I equated two people working as a team to complete a project that was divided up, to a football team....offense/defense. JG turned the ball over and accounted for points for GSU. Now if he were carving them up because they are the worst team in the country, then you can say that the defense lost us the game. JG was not even putting us in position to score. He didn't give the WR's or RB's opportunities to catch the ball in stride. You just equated 2 people's doing their own separate, individual portions of a project where one person's work has no effect on the other person's work to 2 groups of 11 people (and coaches) doing the same part of a project where each person's work affects the others' work and each groups work affects the other groups work. There is so little that is similar between your analogy and football that it really shouldn't be called an analogy.
JG is bad. He's not our only problem and not even our biggest problem.
LOL OK, you're right, we were outmatched in talent.
And putting 14 points on JG is a huge exaggeration. Our defense should never ever allow 3 TD drives of 75+ yards to GA St.
JG is not our only problem.
LOL, if our defense can't hold the worst team in the country to a field goal at least one of those times, then JG is clearly not our only problem.
Why does the QB get so much blame and credit in football? It's the ultimate team sport, but somehow we put all the responsibility on one player more than all the other sports that are actually more dependent on one individual.
He has a preening, John Adams thing going...attempted nice version. I don’t like his style, I think he’s fake as **** and he’s a major reason I don’t subscribe to the Athletic. That’s my take and I don’t have to defend it. Now go make some pretty pics for us on your computer thingamajob.you're right, its not pruitt's responsibly to hand out press passes, the athletic communications department does. but when access is limited in a way that runs counter to the practices of programs across the country like bama, clemson, and most every other school in the country, does a writer--who was paid to move here with his family to write about tennessee football-- not have a right to be irked his job is made that much harder?
i just don't understand the hostility, that's all.
Glad you're back. Not sure anyone has suggested firing him, maybe @Kingston Vol? I think he's got two years regardless of his record, especially if recruiting remains decent. My confidence that he'll survive beyond that is very low.
